Hello and Welcome to Cruise Critics Message Board....

I love Royal Caribbean and if I need to choose someone, I recommended to you RCI but, if you have childrens of that age.... Choose Disney...

Royal Caribbean have the program Adventure Ocean and in that place the child enjoy too much....

Think about that and please, look for others opinions too.... In that thread you go to enjoy and we have a lot of cruisers that can help you...

See ya and Welcome Again...

My son (no 16) and I have sailed both lines. I enjoyed the Disney cruise, but for the price difference RCCL wins hands down. Also from an adult perspective Disney does not have a casino.

With that said, I think the kids programs on both lines are great. For me the difference shows up with kids who are older (say around 14- 15 and up). Disney has really well structured programs for teens. I thought that RCCL, and my son confirmed this, would do well to create more programs for the older teen crowd.

I think I have read some say that they liked the security of the Disney cruise better, but on my recent Vision cruise I did not see the difference.

To sum up, I think your kids will follow your lead and have a great time no matter which line you sail on.

We did a short Disney Wonder cruise and then the Grandeur also. My daughter was 9 on both of the cruises (on the Grandeur she was about to turn 10) and much preferred RCCL. I think there were a couple of reasons that have nothing to do with with line - 1) on RCCL she was the youngest (cool to be with older kids) in the age "grouping" and on Disney she was the oldest (got bored) and 2) the Grandeur was a 7 night cruise!!.

Anyway, she loved the Grandeur and begged to go to the club. She probably spent an equal amount of time in the clubs as with me. Each port day we had an "activity", even if we just got off the ship and walked around for a bit and at sea days we spent at the pool or her in the clubs. We had early dinner seating and the servers would make sure she got her food pretty quickly and she was able to make the evening activities when they started.

On the plus side for Disny - RCCL didn't have any pagers for the parents at this age group (9-11), even if they stayed for the late night (which you had to pay for and we didn't think worth it). My daughter stayed one night (at her request) and got tired of being there. I had no idea and they had no way to "find" me. She had sign in/sign out privileges but she couldn't use them for late night. She didn't stay again. Also, Disney's private island can't seem to be beat. We however, would not take a cruise just to go there. It will have to be a good memory for us.

When I mentioned taking another cruise to my daughter, she hands down wants an RCCL cruise. I didn't have any complaints about the Disney cruise, just not enough bang for the extra buck IMHO.
