Port Lockroy is now open for visitors, I regularly read the newsletters from there on the UKAHT website. the new november diary gives a good account or their trip down to open the base & facinating (at least for me) details of how they live. I was priviledged to have a chat with Rick (Base leader) on my return visit in dec 06. HMS Endurance is mentioned in the diary & that ship now does the job of the RN ship that I was on when I first saw Port Lockroy, now 52 years ago!

Thanks so much for posting this. I am hoping to visit Port Lockroy on our cruise in late January -- it is great to get this background on the station and the people who live there.

Thanks for posting this. We're off to Antarctica at the end of Jan. It's a great help on the Christmas present front too - I think my DH will love being a friend of the Trust:)
