Toad Posted December 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2008 Have only cruised with Holland America, but am considering Fred Olsen because of some of the itineraries. Please if you have any info to provide comparing cabins, food, service etc. Thank you
Britboys Posted December 22, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2008 Hi Toad, I haven't cruised with HAL but have been on Fred. Hopefully someone who has been on both will come along but in the meantime, I would say that they are probably very different. FO is a very unpretentious, traditional style of British cruising. If you have been on one of the newer HAL ships, I would hazard a guess that FO might feel like it was in a time-warp for you. It is definitely more 'cruising like it used to be' rather than todays sophisticated modern product. We went on Black Watch for 5 days in May and had a great time but I doubt I would book more than 7 days on Fred at the moment. But then again, we are more used to P&O.
