bajathree Posted December 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2008 You should feel some redemption after reading this article....what goes around comes around it seems. I know this is more about the new Dubai Atlantis but it's still all the same corp, so it also effects Nassau Atlantis also....which has had the entire Beach Tower now closed for a few months. http://www.cpifinancial.net/v2/News.aspx?v=1&aid=1393&sec=Business%20Lifestyle
I'm on holiday Posted December 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Interesting. I'm curious what's happening with their Nassau property prices. Thanks for the info.
bajathree Posted December 19, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Interesting. I'm curious what's happening with their Nassau property prices. Thanks for the info. The entire Beach Tower has been closed for a few months now due to the very low occupancy. They have also recently laid off 800 employees also at Atlantis Nassau around the same time as closing the Beach Tower. Just a couple weeks ago they were trying to sell rooms for $179/night on TravelZoo. Even though the Beach Tower is closed they never stopped taking reservations for it....they just upgrade you to the Coral Tower.....weird how they do things there. ladylawyer Posted December 19, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 19, 2008 We were at the Atlantis in Nassau last week. You could have shot a canon through there and not hit a soul. Too bad. It's a beautiful property.
Moeve Posted December 19, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 19, 2008 You know if they were clever they would make a decent offer to cruiseline passengers because they could help them survive these times.........

Yes, you can rent a room as always. It should be cheapest to do that at Comfort Suites though. Remember to use your AAA member discount when making a reservation if you have at Comfort;) Also keep checking back as they changes prices like crazy:rolleyes:
bajathree Posted December 19, 2008 Author #8 Share Posted December 19, 2008 You know if they were clever they would make a decent offer to cruiseline passengers because they could help them survive these times......... Well the "unofficial" way they do that is through renting a room at Comfort Suites which allows full use of Atlantis facilities for up to 4 per room. They are located right across the street from the casino/marina....5 minute walk at most.

I am curious however in the actual check in time. Can we check in early in the day rather than 3pm (their posted time?) We'd like to be able to use the facilities at Atlantis all day long. Thanks! Yes....this is the way I do it. I never even actually use or even go to the room. I check in and out at the same time....they are used to this and know exactly what to do...this way I don't waste any time having fun and waiting in line to check out later in the day. If you want to use the room, then on early arrival they will hold any bags for you till later....being your off a cruise though you probably will have only what you are taking to the pool. There is a locker area by one of the pools near Atlantis that you can rent a day locker but i will warn, the lines was over an hour wait last I was there in Aug...I would advise against that option. Best is to pack light and only bring what you would leave out by your beach or pool chair and you will be all set and good to go. You show your Comfort Suites card at the towel booth in Atlantis and they will give you your wrist bands and towels there. They do check how many people are checked into the room and will only give you that amount of wrist bands....so there is no getting one room and trying to sneak more people in. bajathree Posted December 19, 2008 Author #12 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Oh...and as far as a taxi from the port...real easy....what I do is bypass all the guys asking if you want a taxi, they will make you wait till they get other people and put you in a van with a group....I walk outside and find one there. There is a set price for a taxi, can't remember but it's cheap...like $4 pp if it's a full group...however if you just want to go with 2 or 4 of you no problems....I just tell the person I will make it worth their while and give them $25 for the 4 of us and have never had anything but a smile. The ride to Comfort Suites is the same as Atlantis(since it's right across the street) and should take no longer than 10min...15 max.
threeofus Posted December 19, 2008 #13 Share Posted December 19, 2008 We've stayed at Atlantis twice - the first time we loved it. The second time we had a great time but we found the employees to be VERY RUDE. When you are paying those prices you expect gracious hospitality and friendly service. This was not the case. I am sure we were not the only family who felt this way. We live in South Florida so going to the Bahamas is fairly easy but since that last visit we decided not to go back. I'd rather spend my money and vacation on a cruise ship. I found RCL employees to be warm and friendly. They really go out of their way to make your vacation special. Maybe if the economy strengthens they will hire people who appreciate the tourists.

Thank you..this is perfect. We're a family of four, so this option will save us a small fortune over the ship's excursion prices.
