New England/Canada and the Triumph

I've done this itinerary 3 times, once on the Triumph and twice on the Victory. We love this cruise! Like MuuMuu said, it is totally different than cruising the islands. Be aware that when you are at sea, there is a lot of fog, and at that time of year it can be cool. There have been times that I would wear a fleece and other times I would take it off because it was warm. The weather can go either way. I liked Halifax alot -- it is a very walkable city and there is a nice walk along the waterfront with a few shops and restaurants along the way. Enjoy!!!!

I am looking at the New England/Canada cruise on the Triumph for Oct. Would love some input from former cruisers who have taken this intiniery and those who have cruised on the triumph.

I love to cruise to New England and Canada. This past year my wife and I went on Celebrity and we did it. Finally got to Bar Harbor. We have done this same trip on the Triumph before. We will go to Boston, MA. Then on to Portland, ME. Then to St. John, N.B. and then my home away from home, Halifax, N.S.

These are all great places to go to. You will have a great time. The Triumph is a great ship and this will be our third time on board. How is that for an endorsement?

If you have any particular questions ask. This will be my eighth time to New England and Canada.

Would you mind if I ask you a few questions ? I am taking my son (He's 9) on this Triumph 4 night cruise NEXT AUGUST from New York to Saint John and Back. I have NEVER been to New York and am not real aware of the Weather in Early August there. Would you think That I would still have to pack some heavy clothing on an AUGUST cruise ? Also I am wondering how late of flight I should book back to Chicago on our Monday return date from Canada ? I always do self assist and because of such a short cruise we will just have two BIG carry on bags for the plane (No checking bags) I will be taking the Carnival Transfers to either LGA or Newark and Carnival's website says the earliest flight should not be before 1:00pm. Any other info for me on FOG or Motion would be great as I have a Nice Balcony Cabin booked and look forward to trying this type of cruise. Thanks once more for your time and experiences. Have a great night. :)

What about pre cruise hotels, would like to stay as cheap as possible but somewhere where we could get a transfer to the cruise terminal because we will be flying in, probably LaGuardia. Any suggestions on shore excursion would be gladly accepted too. Thanks for your response.

We got to take a tour of the Triumph when she first came to NY before her very first cruise. We were excited as we were booked to sail on her two months later, in our first balcony cabin.

Ship was all abuzz, as Kathy Lee and Frank were on board.

We were escorted around the ship, and we broke off at one point to see where our cabin was.

At the time, this was the biggest thing we had ever been on, but just didn't like the layout of the Lido deck.

Most memorable thing was our first experience at the NY deli. Had one of the best ruebens I think I ever had. And made sure that was the fisrt thing I had on my sailing as well!

We sailed in mid September, and had marvelous weather. Had expected it to be a bit cooler, but it was not. Even expected to be seeing leaves changing that far north, but learned a little lesson about the Maritimes.

We had no fog that cruise, nor the cruise the following year on the Victory in early October.

Our stops in Halifax and St. John were both nice, as well as meeting some nice tablemates that trip.
