Scottam - If you don't want to carry the whole book, or borrow one from the library, you could always copy the pages you need and take them with you. I find this works well for us and saves space. Nancy

We did the Coral Full Transit this past April and your review brought all the wonderful memories back at a time when I need it (looking out my window at a foot of snow...:rolleyes:)

 

We also found the Baja "aft deck" was a perfect spot to view the locks.

 

We went on a couple of ship excursions, but also on several privately-arranged tours with our CC group--a great bunch of folks--and had a wonderful time. Also all met for dinner in the Bayou Cafe.

 

The books we researched before our trip were "Panama Canal--Path Between the Seas" and "Panama Canal by Cruise Ship"--both good resources.

Thank you for the review. I am currently signed up for the Poas and La Paz tour. Even though you couldnt get to Poas, did you enjoy the La Paz preserve? It sounds like the food there is good. Did you get the authentic Costa Rican food?

Hi -- Yes we enjoyed the La Paz tour quite a bit. We loved seeing the hummingbirds and butterfly areas and the waterfalls were much larger than we expected. The food was buffet style. There was authentic Costa Rica food as well as "American" food like hot dogs and pizza.

Yeah -- as long as you can check email via a webpage and you don't have to download your pictures to a laptop then you might as well just use the ship's computers. FYI on sea days in the afternoons it gets pretty crowded.

 

Uno, thank you for the posts. It's good to hear from someone who has actually used the internet, as I must due to my business. I'm scheduled to listen to some live audio presentations over the internet during our cruise in April 09 and plan to bring a laptop with head phones. I hope it works.

Remember, the speed will be about the same as a dial-up. That may not be enough for streaming audio.
