Obstructive Oceanview... anyone?

Has anyone had an obstructive view oceanview room before? Just wondering how obstructive it is... :) We booked one of the oceanview rooms that were available but all they have left is obstructive view.

Thanks in advance

It depends on the cabin. Sometimes the window will be between two lifeboats and your view won't be obstructed at all and others will be smack dab behind a lifeboat and you'll have a wonderful view of fiberglass. The deck plans are fairly accurate and you can gauge how "obstructed" your view will be...

Hi,

We book obstructed view and usually can see quite well. It is nice to see that it is morning! All depends on location, but we are currently booked on the Emerald for obstructed view and were told that we would only see some ropes--no lifeboats. We like to book a midship room because of the 'nice ride'. If you do have a lifeboat/or tender outside of your room, just be sure to pull the curtain because they do periodic washing and maintenance!

These are the lifeboats on the Star Princess. Notice there are two different kinds. the one at the very back and the two at the front, not the raft looking thing, allow you to see over them. Our window was even with the top of these lifeboats so we could see the ocean and buildings when in port. The 3 lifeboats that have taller cabins totally obstruct the view from the window. You get light but cannot see anything.

If you look on the deck plans you will notice the types of lifeboats are different on the deck plans. So you can tell if your window will have one of the tall lifeboats or the not so tall lifeboat.
