First time snorkelers

My family of four newbies is going to the eastern caribbean on NOS 11/20. We will be snorkeling on our own offshore. Should we bring our own fins with us? We have our own masks and snorkels. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.:)

...you definitely don't want to snorkel without them.

I guess I am of a different opinion. I bring my own mask and snorkel, but leave the fins at home. They are too bulky to pack. Also, I have never used fins when snorkeling. There is no reason to zoom around when doing a leisurely snorkel swim. BTW, I dive once a week at the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans, so maybe my legs are a little stronger for kicking.

If you can fit them in, I would bring them. As a previous poster said, this way if you are snorkeling on your own you don't need to search for a place to rent.

Agree. I've snorkeled in some pretty strong currents and fins were a definite help.
