Time of Year - is Late Feb too late?

We just came across a good deal and think of making the trip on Prince Albert 2 the end of February going into March.

 

Good and bad?

I went several years ago February 13-26 and the weather was very good. Smooth crossings both directions and no other problems whatsoever.

Late Feb- March is just fine, some of the animals may be leaving, but the weather is usually good and the ice is always amazing

From my experience, thats when we usually encounter the stronger storms, and you won't see penguin chicks, just scruffy looking molting penguins... on the other hand, its easier to witness Leopard seal action...

But I thought that PA2 last trip was to the Chilean Fjords and not to Antarctic...

Wow - just about an hour ago I was looking at the quotes for this cruise and realized exactly that. Does not appear to be any landing on Antartica like the other 11 day trips. It is going down and around and back up to Valparaiso.

 

Gotta take my head out my .... and put it back on and rethink this. Still may do it, but...wow....
