Question re:private tour capacity

Recommended Posts

There are 4 of us booked on the Summit/oct. 17 '09 for the Med.

We plan to do both ship excursions and private tours but I noticed on the private tours that the capacity can be 6 or more passengers. Is it up to us to fill the empty space or does the tour company automatically fill each tour to capacity? Do they charge your card at time of reservation or on arrival:confused:

Thanks,

Robin

Most private tour operators charge a fixed amount whether you have 2 people or 6. They do not fill the empty seats with other passengers, but if you want to reduce your cost per person, you could try to find another couple via your roll call or on board to share the tour with you.

Some tour operators have a larger van that can accommodate more passengers if you get a group together. They may charge more for the larger van, but it is actually cheaper per person when you divide it out.

As to payment, it greatly depends. Some want a deposit in advance while others are okay with payment on arrival or after the tour. Some want cash while others will take a credit card.

Some tour operators will have different pricing for different numbers of people, 2-3, 4-6, 7-8 or some other variation. Also some operators will help you find others to share and some will expect you to find the others. It really can vary from operator to operator. Find the operator you want to use and see what their policy is, then you can use your roll call to find more people to share with.
