ludocdoc Posted January 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 1, 2009 We're looking for one espescially near P. Navona, but also plan to revisit the Treve fountain and walk to the Jewish Ghetto. Trick is, we're looking for something reasonable, nice, and it must have a bathtub. Any advice?
sea-explorer Posted January 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 1, 2009 Not sure how long you will be staying, & how many will be in a room, but there are 4 of us, so I have booked the Navona Garden suites for April. Not exactly a hotel, more a B&B, but reasonable and good location. http://www.navonagardensuites.com/index.htm The same family also run the Gallery Suites http://www.navonagallerysuites.com/ You might find them worth a look. Thanks! They look nice. Sadly,no rooms with tubs on our dates. That's a dealbreaker for this trip...
Susan-M Posted January 1, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 1, 2009 We stayed at Residenza Canali in October and loved the location. The hotel was nice, they served a good breakfast and prices were reasonable for Rome. Although we didn't have a tub, I believe some of their higher priced rooms did. Here's a link to TA reviews: http://rome-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187791-d488889-Reviews-Residenza_Canali_ai_Coronari-Rome_Lazio.html
sea-explorer Posted January 2, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 2, 2009 What I would also advise you to do is email any hotels you are interested in directly. I have found in the past that sometimes there are rooms available even if websites etc are showing fully booked. If there are no rooms, there are no rooms..but always worth a try. :) Also, you sometimes get a slightly better rate this way as the hotel doesn't have to pay booking agents fees etc. Good luck. paulred Posted January 4, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 4, 2009 We wanted that authentic Italian experience, so we followed Rick Steeves' advice and booked a B&B. There is an excellent site called B&B Planet that has a well organized site for viewing properties and requesting rates and availabilty. I ended up using them for stays all over Italy. Enjoy your visit. Paul
knitter Posted January 4, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 4, 2009 Hotel Cesare is on a 2000 year old pedestrian path between Trevi and P. Navona. The hotel has been owned by the same family for a couple hundred years (or was). Don't remember if they have bathtubs.

I'm only seeing Guglio Cesare, across the river closer to the Vatican than P. Navona or Trevi.

vacationhappy Posted January 5, 2009 #12 Share Posted January 5, 2009 We stayed in Albergo Cesere http://www.albergocesari.it . It is very basic but the location couldn't be better...halfway between Piazza Navona and the Trevi. We also used Roma Shuttle for transportation from the airport and then to the port. Podie Posted January 7, 2009 #13 Share Posted January 7, 2009 We rented a wonderful one bedroom apartment (no bathtub) in Rome three blocks from Piazza Navona - www.romeishome.com At least I think that was the website!
anval37 Posted January 8, 2009 #14 Share Posted January 8, 2009 We booked the following hotel for 1 night at the end of our cruise: http://www.hotelportoghesiroma.com (3 stars hotel - 5 mnts walk from Navona Square). Rate for a double room was around 200 Euro but it had such a nice location and room!
