i thought i read a while back, that it was an hours drive to the shops.

im a right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if so what's is this is the case was is the best excursions to do on this island or is there any where to chill.

There are lots of stalls right on the dock and a little beach to the side. We did a tour with an American couple which was super.

We just took a van tour arranged at the Tourist office at the pier. It was excelent and shopping at the shops at the pier was great. It is amazing what a cruise line hat cn do to help out a deal.:)

I am not posting this to scare you, but to keep you from being mugged or robbed. It happened to people on my cruise.

If you go to the town, DO NOT wear any good jewelry at all around your neck, bracelets, large earrings or anything that can be stolen from you.

That is not the best town to be in. You are much better off to take a tour with the ship.

If you do not want to do that, as others have posted, there are numerous shops right at the pier and two beaches right behind them. ;)

We did it right after getting off the ship in the Port area at the Tourist Commission booth. We did not know the other people and I believe there were 8 total on the bus.:)

We booked it online before we went. We did not have to pay anything upfront. It's better to book in advance as thety can only take 4 people. We were with my daughter and her almost husband - they got married the next day on the ship!

We stayed at the pier. There were many shops set up. I bought some beautiful pearls for $10. (Yes, they were real.) You can get some great deals on pearls!!!! I wish I had purchased at least 10 of them to give away for gifts!
