tiggerlily Posted January 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2009 As we are from Britain the wine package RCL show us is in £. We have a down loaded price per bottle from the restaurant that some kndley put on the forum, but it is dollars, it would be great to be able to check easily. Ive tried .com but that still brings it back to £. Has any got this so i can download it. Thanks:confused:

Thanks:confused: If you want to preorder call them direct on 01932 834325 It is cheaper to do it now because of the exchange rate Another hint to a fellow Brit - it is cheaper to prepay the grats if you haven't already, and also book the speciality restaurants and the shore excursions on line too..... uktraveller Posted January 5, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 5, 2009 tiggerlily, Here's a tip for you.... go on to the dot com website and right at the top of the page (under "Log in" tab) you will see the question "not from the UK?"..... click on that and change your country to US and you can access the price of everything in US$!!;) And take Albert's very good advice and book your extras now in £..... the exchange rate RCCL is currently using is v. good! We have already paid for our wine package and we're not going until October!!:o

tony@stanton19.freeserve. Posted January 5, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 5, 2009 That is good advice, we recently returned from the Liberty and we prebooked a diving course which was cheaper in £ vs $. I also prepaid tips as an extra before leaving as it was cheaper in pounds. This was about ten days before sailing and done on my card via my TA. Never got round to the wine package which was good value, even in dollars. However when you board, don't opt for them to charge your shipboard account in pounds to your credit card. You will lose on the exchange rate and your card will also charge an extra fee for using the card overseas. Certain cards including the Nationwide will not charge commission on overseas use
tiggerlily Posted January 6, 2009 Author #7 Share Posted January 6, 2009 Thanks for the great tip. I then brought up the wine package in £ and $ to compare. The rate their offering at the moment was $1.47 to the £ So thats better than the exchange rate at present. Hope that helps anyone else.:D tiggerlily,Here's a tip for you.... go on to the dot com website and right at the top of the page (under "Log in" tab) you will see the question "not from the UK?"..... click on that and change your country to US and you can access the price of everything in US$!!;) And take Albert's very good advice and book your extras now in £..... the exchange rate RCCL is currently using is v. good! tiggerlily Posted January 6, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted January 6, 2009 Thanks for the info. Paid the grats when we first booked 12 months ago, so we had a great exchange then. Wished we had booked everything else then too, now the exchange rate has gone down. Cheers:) If you want to preorder call them direct on 01932 834325It is cheaper to do it now because of the exchange rate Another hint to a fellow Brit - it is cheaper to prepay the grats if you haven't already, and also book the speciality restaurants and the shore excursions on line too..... Lushpuppy Posted January 6, 2009 #10 Share Posted January 6, 2009 Dollar rate:eek: Nightmare!!! Last year our seapass account was over 10k which although bad , was at 2:1 to the £. This year....guess even we as big party spenders will have to watch what we are doing! We reckon as well as on board drinks and wine, we are certain to buy at least 2 x bottles bubbly per day, so bought two of the diamond packages, and also bought two bottles champagne for sailaway. That was a total cost of £422 for the 26 bottles, working out at £16 per bottle.. better than ship cost by the looks of things... Keep hoping it changes but not looking good for us:( HUGE difference on January 08 eh!!!
carhirer Posted January 9, 2009 #11 Share Posted January 9, 2009 This is really too good to be true. The cheapest package is either £64 or $129.95, ie an exchange rate of better than $2 per £1! This assumes of course that the $ package price reflects the $ prices on board. It is not like the sharp folk at RCCI to miss this. There has got to be a catch somewhere. be careful when choosing your wines though. The different packages do not involve separate lists. The cheapest package has a small list of wines and the more expensive packages include the same wines plus some more expensive ones. So if you choose an expensive package you could end up picking a cheaper wine!
