Has anyone taken the 7 hour excursion to see the Embera Village? :)How was it? Were the prices for handmade items cheaper or more expensive in the village or at Cristibal pier? :confused:Thanks for any information. We are thinking of booking this excursion in Panama.

We went on HAL tour to the indians. It was fabulous. Just seeing the poor road conditions on the way there was worth it alone. Really, I have never seen such poor road conditions in my life. The indians do live in the villages. Ours had a couple of basketball hoops at the top of the hill. We also heard that they keep a tv set hidden from view. They were beautiful and friendly people. The prices of the crafts were the same as you could get on the pier. However when you are in the village you see the artisan of the pieces so that makes it more special. They take US dollars but bring enough small bills as they can not always make change. Most of them speak spanish so if you are fluent it is nice to converse with them. I think it was really worth it. Also FYI there have been armed holdups of tourist buses. HAL provided us with armed police escorts. Make sure your ship does the same as Panama is not safe.
