Back to Back Cruises

I am looking to book a back to back...but I have a few questions regarding them though. Would you need to make 2 seperate deposits for each cruise? When you pay your onboard expense account do you pay after the first sailing or when you disembark the ship for the whole 2 sailings? Thanks

2 separate booking with different booking numbers. Each cruise will have a separate S&S account.

Two deposits...Seprerate accounts that are paid at the end of each cruise. Two different S&S cards.

Also you have to debark the ship after the first leg and go through customs. We all met (per Carnival) at the pursers deck around 10:15 AM in the homeport and were escorted down to the terminal. Showed our passports/ID and handed in our customs form. Then were escorted back on the ship for the second leg......;)

Yup that's all correct here's a few other "things"

*you can get off and do something in the Homeport between Cruises if you want. Juat talk to the Pursers desk and they'll explain how this works.

*make sure you tell your cabin stewart the 1st day or so that your B2B. If your in the same cabin both trips no problems. If your not he/she can help make arrangements to move you. (should be able to get you a wheeled rack)

*you alreay know the crew by name and they know you! :D

*you can sit on the Lido deck and the 1st folks onboard will wonder how you got there ahead of them. :)

*you may get a little "treat" in your cabin the start of the 2nd Cruise for being B2B passangers. ;) (at least we did)

*you know the dining room menu and a few days into the 1st leg if you really like your wait staff see the MD and ask him/her if it's possible to be seated with them the 2nd leg. This way they already know your likes and dislikes. :p

Have FUN after our 1st B2B this past September we came home and booked our next one! I'm betting you will too!

If you do a B2B from Tampa, you do not have to get off the ship (unless you want to).

I don't understand this. You have to do it in Miami. Why not Tampa ?

This is a customs reg for all US ports I thought.

I don't know. I thought the same. I thought I'd at least have to go through immigration on the ship, but I didn't have to do anything. Others doing recent B2Bs on the Inspiration have reported they didn't have to get off either. I was very surprised I didn't have to get off.

I can shed some light on the Tampa issue. In Tampa, customs officers boarded the ship and set up a checkpoint in the conference room next to the Rock and Roll disco on Inspiration. We went through customs there EARLY with the non US residents. Then we did not have to leave the ship and go through in the terminal. We stayed on board and roamed the empty ship for an hour, which was really cool by the way.

I can only assume (since I have not done a B2B at Miami) that the officers either do not set up on the ship, or they don't allow the B2B people to do that at that port. In either case, it seems to be more up to either the ships management, the customs office at the port, or the Port Authority as to whether B2B people have to debark or not.

Kinda makes sense. Like leaving a US port then doing a foreign port then back to another US port before getting back to the US. They always do that on the ship also. I hate getting up early for those ...It sux. The last time I went in my bathrobe and boat shoes. I even didn't wear undies...LOL.....

We didn't have to get off in San Diego either, just reporterd in the morning with the foreign folks. It took about ten minutes to see the agent - he asked if we were staying aboard and we said yes. The rest of the day was our own - when the hoards got on we got off for a while to do some shopping. You really feel like a V.I.P.

Anyone do a B2B at Port Canaveral? Would like to know if we have to get off. I'm doing my first B2B. It was a last min. deal so I don't have the same room.

Not sure if you'll need to leave the ship, but I can tell you that customs did board the Glory and set up in a public area (the library I think). So, based on what other posters have stated, you may not have to get off the ship.

I didn't even have to do that. Seriously, it was just like another day on the ship. I questioned the purser because I knew customs got on board, but I seriously had to do nothing except go get my new S&S card.

You will have to come back and give a full report as I am doing a back to back on the Glory 2/7 and 2/14.

I did th Valor b2b last year out of Miami, but not out or Orlando yet

Make sure and tell everyone you meet on the first leg that you are doing a B2B. Then show up debarkation morning to the Lido deck wearing your bathrobe & slippers around 9:00. Gets them every time!

My favorite was when we did the B2B2B on the Fascination last year. We'd be chatting with people in the elevator the last sea day and they'd say something like, "so, are you all packed?". Our cue to tell 'em we didn't have to as we were staying on for 2 more cruises:D

Chigirl....we didn't have to get off or go through customs at any point after our first leg of the B2B on the Inspirations either. We just hung around and watched all the sad folks leaving, then headed out to the pool for awhile.

BUT, there is something that has not been mentioned....if you do not get off the ship, be sure to get your photo made for your new S&S card at some point before your first port of call. We got to Grand Cayman and because I am Platinum went to the head of the line to tender off...well, ya know it was sorta embarassing when the card dingy thing BUZZZZZZed real loud and we had to hold up the line to make a new photo!! LOL Also, make sure you credit card info transfers over to the new S&S card as well. None of ours did so when we went to buy our first DOD on the second trip...the card no worky. :( Just had to go to the Purser's desk to have them re-activate it...but, it would have been nice if we'd been aware that might happen and we could have checked on it when we got our second S&S cards.

.....we were on the Inspiration out of Tampa. We didn't have to get off the ship, we had to go to Customs 6:45 AM though. We stayed in the Atrium while everyone got off. We were the first ones on the ship, we went to the Purser's desk and received our new S&S cards.

B2B is the way to go!
