Miami - late flight

Our flight out of Miami isn't until 7:00 p.m. Considering luggage, how can we enjoy Miami for the day instead of sitting at the airport? I know we can do a 2 or 3 hour tour and get dropped at the airport, but we have at least 8 hours to spend. Any "day rate" hotels or other options?

A lot of people just rent a car and hit the spots you want to see. Easy to do from MIA.

You would need to call individual hotels to chekck if they will do a day room for the day you need it. Some won't ever, some if it's a slow time.

We rented a room at the Hilton near the airport for $109.just last week. It was a great way to relax and let the kids swim at the pool then shower before heading to the airport. They offer a free shuttle to the airport that runs every 20 minutes. We left for the airport early and glad we did. I am not sure if MIA is always this bad but it took over 2 hours to get through security. There were only 2 people checking IDs and boarding passes and most people did not understand and have them out and ready. Once they got to the checkpoint they were digging through their carryons to find boarding passes.
