Costa Maya Jungle Beach Break

We just came back from an NCL (Spirit) Western Caribbean cruise out of New Orleans yesterday (1/25/09). We did the Costa Maya Jungle Beach Break excursion through NCL. It was a very nice place and a fun time. The facilities are clean and there are activities to keep everyone busy (snorkeling (gear rental extra), kayaks (included), parasailing (extra), jet skis (also extra) and volleybally (included). The beach chairs are nice and there was an open bar included w/this excursion. The bus ride to the beach club takes about 30-40 minutes. There are a few shops at the beach club and people do walk around trying to get you to buy either air brush tattoos, photos w/a monkey or hair braiding but nothing was too annoying. The tour guide was nice and helpful. Buses leave at a few different times in the afternoon to get back to the ship. It was not crowded at all when we were there but I think ours was the only ship in Costa Maya that day - I would think that if there are 2 or more ships that it could get crowded. There are plenty of chairs and plenty of space though. There is also food which is extra but pretty cheap - our meals were $6 each. Food was pretty good (not great).

We took it a few years ago through NCL and had a great day at the beach. It was not too crowded, everyone had chairs... they had a few hammocks out... we just had chips and salsa...GREAT! They had people braiding hair, airbrushing tattoos, etc. Not a lot and not pushy! Drinks were good...we just chilled out for the day! What we try to do on vacation! Did it get damage from the hurricane?
