On the Zuiderdam over the past 10 days, my husband ran a test of the connection speeds for anyone wanting that information.

 

Using speedtest.net and averaging over five tests, the result was 546 kbps download speed, 195kbps upload speed and 674 kbps ping.

 

We paid a $3.95 set-up fee and $100 for 240 minutes (they were running a special the first day where you got 20 free minutes with the purchase of a 220 minute plan).

 

If you want to know the connection speed compared to your current land based connection, you can use speedtest.net to run you own tests.

Yes, that's about 10% of my speed here. Actually I thought the shipboard speed might be even slower than your test, but it's in the ballpark of what I thought.

seemed to be the speed on board. Even for the free NY times site. I'll get my fix on the shore at internet cafes for a lot less money.
