No charge for room service @ 2:28am!

Recommended Posts

We ordered room service this past Friday morning at 2:28am, yes two minutes before they shut down. Didn't know that when I called but was told by the attendant who answered the phone. I offered to not order but he insisted! Anyway, I wasn't billed the stated $3.95 charge. I guess that they'd already totaled the onboard charges! Yeah me! Should I send them a check? ;)

I am probably being dumb but why were they closing at 2:30am? I thought room service was open 24 hours/day.

that was the last night, right? Then everything is truncated that night to allow for all the turnover day craziness.

So they are going to start (or already have started) to charge for room service? Is it a flat fee or does it vary depending on what you order? Is it charged per person (meal) or per cabin?

It will be $3.95 per order/cabin on orders made and delivered between midnight and 5 AM.

On the last night of a cruise room service shuts down at a specific time.

To the OP you might still be charged if RCI notices this. They can charge your CC seperately for anything that was missed. This is how they charge you for robes and the such that people take off the ship. Lordly I hope it does not happen though.

I didn't think the charge was starting until later this month.

No, the charge was in effect. It was listed in the new RCL book in our stateroom. Along with other policies and the room service menu. I asked the stateroom attendant if I could take it and she said yes!

And yes, we always tip room service well.

It's charged per order (no matter how large or small) a flat $3.95. The

Cruise Services book in our stateroom states "a late night service charge applies" but doesn't specify the exact hours. I've read on these boards it's from midnight to 5am.

Yeah, that $3.95 might cause me to cancel the Oasis cruise with you in 2010!!

lol hey if they do charge you do not let that make you cancel the Oasis. After all it is in the contract they can do this. They have to protect themselves from all those people who steal big stuff from the rooms. lol However, I seriously doubt they even put the $3.95 charge in for your order since it was within the time frame of charging. I should not have even said/typed anything. lol Good vibes that they do not charge you.:)

I think it's fair to charge between 2-4 AM because you should be sleeping not eating. However, at 5 AM you might be an early riser and want breakfast. At 12 or 1 AM you might be just leaving the casino or disco and be hungry. It's not unreasonable for someone to be hungry at midnight; that's a bit early to start charging. People should call in their order at 11:58. :D

I can just see 3200 passengers ordering room service on the last night right before the shut down.

Or on Oasis later on in the year. How many pax will she carry? Like 5500?

That's a lot of Bistro Burgers! Did I mention the Chili and Chorizo dip is the best ever? Especially at 3am!:p
