luv2travel2beaches Posted January 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2009 Does anyone know if there are any Queen Mary museum discounts available and where I might find them?
Craving A Cruise Posted January 19, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2009 Hello, I'm not positive, but I think I recall using our AAA membership card for a small discount. I'll bump this question up for you and hopefully someone else more local can help you out. :) Have you tried checking their official website? Also, what month are you planning to visit? That may make a difference as far as discounts are concerned.
kenish Posted January 19, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2009 The local LA news said the QM is up for sale again. She's had a troubled financial history and has not been good to any of her owners over the past 10-20 years. So there may be changes in pricing coming up....hopefully they can find a buyer and she won't be mothballed. At least it can't be moved, part of the problem is the hull has deteriorated and she would sink were she not resting on a concrete pedestal. luv2travel2beaches Posted January 20, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted January 20, 2009 We will be there in just a couple of weeks. (early Feb.). Thanks for the info.
BSQ Posted January 20, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 20, 2009 far as I can recall there aren't many discounts floating around for this attraction (including AAA). There is a tourist walking map that has a coupon for free admission to the Submarine when you pay a full admission to the QM. The map is called Long Beach Walking Map and Directory. I'll check back and see if I find anything else when I go to the Farmer's Market on Friday ... they usually have an info booth with all this kind of stuff. luv2travel2beaches Posted January 20, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted January 20, 2009 We will be in Anaheim for 3 days pre cruise, so if there are brochures out there or "free" guides that I can pick up with the coupons in it that would work. Thanks for any info you can find.
cruiserbryce Posted January 20, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 20, 2009 most hotels in anaheim have brochurs for local attractions and from time to time there are coupons available inside...take a look, but yes AAA gets a discount...we will be there the day before our...and YOUR cruise on Sapphire as well as the LB aquarium
luv2travel2beaches Posted January 20, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted January 20, 2009 We are headed for DL for 3 days pre-cruise, but want a small little sightseeing post-cruise before our flight home. I would like the aquarium, but dh and friends really want to see the Queen Mary.....and we will only have a couple of free hours before we need to be at the airport. kenish Posted January 20, 2009 #9 Share Posted January 20, 2009 Why not visit QM pre-cruise in the morning and do the Aquarium post-cruise? A good visit/ tour through QM takes 2 hours (3 if you're really into nautical stuff). If you're taking Carnival it makes even more sense because you can do early check-in on the QM. If you're leaving out of San Pedro it's about 20 minutes / 8 miles by taxi. Speaking as a local, I see all sorts of discount coupons for the Aquarium but not for QM. QM is running a free admission deal for CA residents but that's about it other than AAA discounts.
luv2travel2beaches Posted January 21, 2009 Author #10 Share Posted January 21, 2009 Thanks. We will consider that option. We will have at least 2-3 hours post cruise before we need to get on the shuttle for the airport. Not a lot of time, but I'm getting my "Disney" fix prior to our cruise. :) We will just have to plan another trip to LA to see more.
