Princess Players Club

Is there any charge to join the Princess Players Club to earn "points" when playing in the casino? Some things I've read say you get free drinks as a PPC member....how "free" are these and how readily available are they?

No charge to join the Ocean Players Club and free drinks are at the discretion of the casino host/hostess. I have had up to 4 in an evening as well as none.

They have a website http://www.oceanplayersclub.com

Does anyone know if there is now a cross reference with Carnival, Holland, and Cunard for the player's club? Doesn't it seem like they should know this.... meaning keeping track of the spenders/losers on all the various lines?

Oh I think they do; but it is just not advertised as such.

Hey Mike, Thanks for the link. Free drinks got my attention so I took a look at the website for more info. From the website - "There are minimum criteria for play to be rated, please check with the casino table personnel on your cruise."

Does anyone know what the minimum criteria are for table games such as blackjack? We enjoy plenty of time at the blackjack tables but are far from high rollers as we prefer the $5 (if you can even find one anymore!) and $10 tables. Not sure if those low bets, no matter how long we play, are enough to earn any rewards, such as a free drink here and there. Thanks for any info!

You need to be betting at least $25/hand to get rated - and even then you don't get much. If you bet a few hands at $20 or $15, you won't get anything. Occassionally, if you are tipping a lot, you might be able to squeeze the pit boss if you are there for a while, but cruises aren't anywhere close to Vegas style casinos - they have to deal with too many $5 - $10 players so they have strict limits on comps.

Tammy, most of the open tables at Blackjack are $5 so you will have no problem spending your money.:)

Yeah, we've always had pretty good luck finding a $5 table on the ship, have a lot of fun, and even win a little sometimes. But even losing a little is more fun than spending money on new tires, which I just did. :( Could have played a lot of blackjack for what I just spent!

Do they have live Texas Holdem tables or tournments on the ships, my husband loves to play, thanks

They have the WORST invention in the world - computerized hold'em tables. I am a big hold'em player, but I won't play on cruise ships...they have a computerized table that takes the fun and the personality out of the game (okay...I'll stop complianing...this has been discussed in many other threads..)

Now I am not a card player; but every Princess ship we have been on has had live dealers for the hold'em tables.

On which ship did you see the computerized tables?

Sapphire, Dawn and Golden all had computerized tables on our last cruises. On the Golden just last month the computerized table was so busy their were people waiting for seats to open up.

The Golden had live dealers in November (The Grand in March) I know. Did they have some of both tables when you were onboard, or have they recently done away with the dealers?

There were no live dealers on the Golden last month or on the Dawn in 4/08. I am sorry but I don't remember on the Sapphire............and also I forgot the Crown in 4/2007 had computerized tables, but don't remember if they had live dealers on that one.

On the Golden last month the casino was very dead not many gamblers on our cruise. The only thing that seemed to get consistent action was the computerized poker table. So, if they were going to have live dealers they sure should have set up the live tables.

That is not good news at all. I guess we must have caught some of the last living dealers at work on cruise ships.

I assume this is another of their "cost cutting" measures; but I wonder if this one will end being counterproductive as I know my friends love the card tables with the dealers.

Thanks for the info

One more question? What about the Blackjack and Caribbean Stud tables? Were they replaced with electronic tables as well?
