Sikwemu Posted January 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2009 The tickets have arrived for my first P&O:) (Oceana Feb 6 Panama Canal) but nothing about dress nights. :( So as usual I'm turning to the boards. What are formal/semi-formal/casual night numbers likely to be please?
BrianI Posted January 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2009 It is usually mentioned in the print somewhere in the ticket booklet but it will be four formals and the remainder smart casual. There are no semi formals on Caribbean cruises. The first formal is usual the second evening for the Captains welcome aboard, where there is a reception with complimentary drinks for 30 mins before dinner Brian
jo-b Posted January 15, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2009 There is usually information somewhere with the tickets, in essential information? Also tells you if there will be any theme nights. I would guess at 2 formals per week but possibly no semi formals as they are being dropped on Oceana and quite often fly cruises do not have semi formal nights. Sikwemu Posted January 15, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted January 15, 2009 From the replies (thank you I had already read the dropping of semi's from Oceana) I'm guessing there must be more information to come. The "tickets" are just all about the flight, luggage labels etc.etc. No essential information....like how many frocks to pack!
jeanlyon Posted January 16, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2009 Surely if you log in to your Cruise Personaliser on the P&O site, it will give you that information. I know ours did when we cruised in September. http://www.pocruises.com/Login.axd?ReturnUrl=/Account/Home.axd
chyanmor Posted January 24, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 24, 2009 there is a lot of changing on the recent cruises with cruise wear, On the cruise after us which was a caribbean one it was reported that they did infact have semi formal nights which stunned us but was great with the 23kg weight limit that we didn't have to pack jackets. Check your cruise personaliser or alternative just drop p and o an e-mail they soon get back to you - 1 or 2 days - always have had a reply even when I just asked what the bar prices was like I had an e-mail with the whole bar listings :-) Huw
LibraLass41 Posted January 25, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 25, 2009 In the booklet with the case labels - which is personalised with your name, have you read all the info, its not highlighted, but it does usually say about dress code and number of formal and casual nights in that booklet. Sikwemu Posted January 25, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted January 25, 2009 Thanks Huw and LIbra Lass. I DID sort it out and posted it on here that I had. There was one poster that was practising their sarcasm gene at the time and quite a few of the posts got taken off....my reply went with them:) I rang up P&O who told me one thing and then actually found the information....which was different. It WAS in the travel tickets but hidden away to somebody without their glasses! The B&W formal is ready along with a shorter length formal. Formal nights 3&4 will be a rather fetching pair of evening trousers with different tops.
chyanmor Posted January 25, 2009 #9 Share Posted January 25, 2009 Not a problem glad you where able to get it sorted :-) we throughly enjoyed the black and white nights. You may also get a tropical night as well in the mix which is quite well enjoyed by all.
southwinds Posted January 25, 2009 #10 Share Posted January 25, 2009 P&O along with other cruise line adopt the Caribbean 5* hotel policy of having Semi Formal night along with 4 formal nights, hence no Semi Formal nights, however we did get a few on an Oriana Cruise out there once. But Oceana and Ventura are now adopting a different style of cruising Smart Casual with 4 formals.. sign of the times. The ladies will still dress up as we love it, it gives the men a chance to dress down:mad: Have a good cruise
