Visiting Ephesus independently

Has anyone hired the audio headset tour at Ephesus? We have been to the site twice before so already know what to expect but thought this might be a good memory jogger rather than hiring a guide. Any thoughts?

 

Also has anyone been recently - what currency do you need? Do they take credit cards at the entrance?

 

Any advice on independent touring will be much appreciated. Arrival port Kusedasi.

The cost of hiring a private guide and driver is very cheap in Kusadasi. I would hire someone and in addition to Ephesus have them show you around The Temple of Artemas, the House of the Virgin Mary, and Basilica of St. John.

We were in Ephesus two years ago and they only accepted cash for admission to the main site and the Terrace Houses: Turkish lira.

We were in Ephesus in December and hired Sea Song tours. The tour price included all admissions to Ephesus, Terrace House, etc. We had a fantastic day.
