"LIVE" from the Majesty / 01-17-2009

Recommended Posts

I have the Majesty booked out of Baltimore in July and I too am concerned. In Radio's pictures the pool area where the band is looks really small and narrow. It looks like on the upper deck you can barely walk by the lodge chairs.

If you read any post that sell the ship let me know as I'll will probably bail on this trip. It was a good price however its still 3k for a family of 4.

It's a well known fact that the Majesty is an older, smaller ship. Sorry you didn't know this when you booked. If you are looking for a quaint, intimate ship with excellent service, then you have picked the right ship. If you are looking for huge, exciting and all the bells and whistles of the new mega ships, you should cancel.

I hope you were able to get wi-fi at the starbucks. When we were there last week the internet was not working or so we were told. It was good to get a good cup of chai though. The ship doesn't have good chai and that is the only downside of the Majesty. If you run in bar waiter Anto tell him Ken and Cindy send a big Hello! He was the best and will take good care of anyone.

Just to alleviate some of your concerns. Look at Radio's 1st picture in post #68. Do you see where the navy blue smoke stack is in the back? That area is quite large, but you really can't see that. Also, where he's positioned to take the picture, that area is also large. All chairs. The sides where you see 1 isle of chairs is still easy to navigate through. Server's have to get drinks to them!

Also, there is another pool directly behind the pool you do see.

Like CruisinGram said, it's definitely a small ship, but she's lovely. Read some member reviews to get a better idea, but keep in mind, often time's when people write reviews it's to complain. Majesty has a huge following. Hope that helps. :)

I just found out a couple of things that I didn’t know. . . Royal Caribbean’s Coco Cay private island is right next to GSC. I have been to Coco Cay many times, but I didn’t know that GSC was so close.

Awww... you should have looked at my Cruise Map of CocoCay and GSC! :)

Unfortunately the satellite imagery that Google is using at this time is not very good, but you can see the two islands and in fact there are even two ships at anchor, one for each.

It seems that the wind was so extreme, that the anchor(s) that secure Majesty, had slid, and would not hold the Ship in place. The Captain decided that we would not be allowed ashore, and all passengers that were currently ashore would be brought back to the ship. The wind was picking up and it didn’t appear that it would let down.

Majesty Port Bow

In this picture, it looks like the bow thrusters are working pretty hard to try to keep the ship in place!

Hello everyone. . . I had a great day in Nassau. It was very relaxing.

I started off by walking up to Starbucks, I relaxed and checked my email (free), while I had a chance to read all of the posts on this thread.

Wow. . . ! Thanks for all of the nice comments. I still have to post the Room Service menus, before Saturday.

I then walked up to the British Colonial Hilton. They will sell you an all day pass to use their pool and changing rooms for $30. (I saw this question on another post) I think the price went up since I was here in 2007. The price seems a little high.

I then went up to Sandals Grand Bahamian Resort. I loved it there. I sell a lot of Sandals for customers, but I have never been to the Bahamas Resort.

It is a 5 Star Luxury Resort. I could have stayed there for a week ! I ended up relaxing so much there, that I took a 2 hr nap !

I decided not to go to the Casino (about 1 mile South), because I haven’t been lucky in the casino this trip. The cabby told me there were a couple of Casino's there.

While I was up at Cable Beach, a few ships pulled in, that I was not aware of. I should have checked Cruisecal.com

Royal Caribbean’s Monarch of the Seas was there as well as the Regal Empress, and Disney Wonder. ( I will be touring the Disney Wonder this Thursday, while at Port Canaveral) We now have 5 ships in port today ! This seems to be a very busy Tuesday)

I think I will go back to the ship tonight to see the Comedian. He did a small act for the Welcome Aboard show, and he was very very funny ! (I will post his name later)

I had dinner last night at the Pasta Café (Deck 9 FWD), and it was excellent. Reservation are required for there, but there is no additional charge. The Italian menu changes nightly.

I am heading back to the ship, but I will try to post again tonight before we leave (Midnight).

Tomorrow we are scheduled for Freeport, BHS. The Captain suggested to us that we would see the NCL Dream there, while she is waiting to be sold (The Louis Cruise Line deal fell through).

Here are a few pics from today.

Radio:

We have been on the Majesty twice and a third coming up in May. Thanks for reliving the memories and also getting us exciting to go on her one last time in May.

We were cruising this past Christmas and as we were passing Grand Bahama Island we were viewing throught the binos. and could see the Dream "out to pasture". It is very sad she is not even in a berth just anchored out. I hope someone purchases her as she is a beauty.

Maybe if there are no buyers, then NCL could start selling Dream Cruises again ! ! :):)

Split up the Home Ports. . .6 months Baltimore, MD and 6 months Charleston, SC. in 2010 (NCL will not be sailing from those ports)

I will vote for that !

As I was sitting here at Starbucks, I saw the Norwegian Sky pull in. . . .

I did know it was older just would have thought it would be laid out a little better / smarter so that you wouldn't feel so cramped !!!

Its a Miracle that I found the Miracle for $50 more, I will be switching:D

Please tell me what keeps bring you back to the Majesty? I am booked for July but after seeing how small it is, I need to find a few good reasons to go through with it.

Enjoying your reports, Radio, and looking forward to hearing about Freeport and especially seeing lots of pictures. :) As you might gather, I lived there (1969-73) when it was a very different place but a lot of the folk I knew are still around. If you get into Pisces say 'Hi' to the owner George from me! Hope to get back one day on a cruise ship too!

Here are a few more pics from last night. . . .

They had a Tropical Deck party last night, up on Deck 10. There were only about 150 people there. It was a little cool and windy.

I am surprised I stayed up that late. . . .it must have been the nap at Sandals . . .

The comedian, Sam Griesbaum was on Monday Night. . .Ooops I missed him.

NCL won't have sailings out of Baltimore in 2010? I had no idea. I haven't been checking 2010 sailings but this is a real bummer. :(

Hello everyone. . . Welcome to Freeport, Grand Bahamas.

Today is a chilly. . .well COLD day ! It is about 54f, and windy.(It is much warmer than Maryland though)

It should only get up to about 60f. It is a sunny day though, with no rain in the forecast. The Freeport dock where we are at is an industrial port, but there are a few shops here for cruise passengers.

There are several ships with us today (with no passengers). Several ships are in dry dock this week. The Dream of course is anchored off the coast of Freeport.

Carnival Sensation is getting her balconies added, before heading back to Port Canaveral. The World is also in dry dock, along with the Caribbean Princess.

There are a couple of other ships in port, (in dry dock) but I will try to get the names.

I will probably walk around a bit, and see what there is to see. I may go up to the Lucaya Market place area (where the resorts, and beaches are).

I think that they have an Internet Café here as well. They did last time I was here. I will try to see what the prices are for Scooter and Car rental too.

Here are a few pics from this morning as we entered Freeport.

Thanks for tuning in. . .

Great pix, Radio! Sam Griesbaum was on our Majesty cruise last January. He is terrific!

The ship in dry dock "The World" is the smallest ship there.. I think they bit off more than they could chew in choosing that name!

Have a great day in Freeport.. wish it were warmer for you.
