Back to back cruise question

Our turnaround port was Seward. The cruise could be booked either as a 7-day or as a 14 day (2 7-days B2B). Seward was treated as a regular port day for those of us doing the B2B. There were several excursions offered for B2B passengers. We did a dog sled excursion which left around 8:30 and afterwards, on our own, used the shuttle bus to visit the aquarium. Returning passengers bypassed the new passenger line. As I wrote in an earlier post in this thread, we didn't have to do anything on this day. Same card, no immigration, on and off whenever we wished etc. This was summer 2008.

THAT is a big improvement compared to what we did.

Ft Lauderdale has all new rules!!

 

This is what I wrote about our Eurodam Intransit day:

 

Ft Lauderdasle -- those carrying off their own luggage get to leave first -- one week it was around 7:47 and this past week they started at 7:30. Everything is done by assigned times. We got our new ID cards and information Friday evening. We had to meet at the front desk at 10:15 -- there were only 3 passengers who were intransit on our cruise. We were escorted off the ship. Things have changed again here in Ft Lauderdale. We were escorted into the terminal, and taken down stairs to the luggage area -- never did that before. Then we were escorted to the immigration people where we showed our passports and Intransit tickets. After that we were escorted back upstairs to wait for the all clear that we could get back on board. Just our luck -- The Coast Guard pulled an unannounced inspection and we could not get back on the ship until 11:35 -- same time as they were allowing the new passengers to embark. Our pictures did not transfer over so we had to go to the Neptune Lounge and have them taken over.

 

One time we had to wait for almost two hours in the holding area. Seems that the ship did not zero out its count. Turns out it was a couple who slept in and had not even packed. Unfortunetly it was one of the CC group. Other times it was a breeze.

We also had that happen a couple of times in Ft Lauderdale -- Volendam back about 3 years ago -- 180 of us got off at 9:30 -- finnally around 11:15 and elderly couple came wobbling off the elevator. I think some people were ready to kill them!! They were in no rush as they lived in the area.

Another time, the person who escorted us off the ship returned to the ship and about 60 of us were completely forgotten about -- another long wait while they called for someone to come for us.
