Brilliant all round except this cabin in particular had a strong smell of old coffee that intermittently penetrated the cabin for an hour or so. It came from the Ocean Cafe when they cleaned up and flushed the waste. Staff did everything to correct but to no avail. It is livable but one either side would be better I believe. dbub Posted October 24, 2010 #1053 Share Posted October 24, 2010 Deck - Vista (8) Cabin # - 8257 Class – 1A Starboard or Port Side - Port Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Very quiet. The sliding glass doors between the elevators and the hallway along with the cabin door completely blocked all Grand Foyer (Centrum) noises. The room was non-connecting room. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – The room is the 1st slant next to the hump cabins. Therefore, the view forward is fantastic - a great view of the port side bridge as well as the rooms in between. The view aft can be enhanced by leaning over the rail to see the hump balcony edges but none of the other aft rooms are visible. You can see part of the wake behind the ship. The view straight down is generally of the ocean, yet looking a bit forward and down lines up nicely with the lifeboats. Finally, privacy is not an issue when a few feet from the railing. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - (I think) one of the biggest. Others have stated verandas in slant rooms 1 (ours) & 3 (when counting from the hump) are bigger than 2 & 4, which are bigger than most of the standard verandas. Was wind a problem? Never If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? Read other's concerns about the partially obstructing sliding closet doors. I guess expecting a problem is better than assuming one detail and finding another - we were able to use the closet without difficulties. Weird thing, the electronics of the safe in the closet started making beeping noises. Turns out, the iPhone in it was interfering even though it was in there for the previous 3 days. Any other comments? Wireless reception for a MacBook Pro essentially the same as wireless in the iLounge. The wired Macs in the iLounge were just a little faster. Great location, just steps from the Grand Foyer (Centrum) elevators and the main stairway. Had plenty of closet, shelve and drawer storage for our 1-week cruise. Used the over-bed cabinets for dirty clothes. Suitcases stored nicely under the bed. Bathroom storage was above average compared to other ships. Noted that the balcony overhead in 1625 is lower than other with an air intake. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – The bulge precludes some views directly toward the bow. Balcony Size? Deck - 7 Cabin # - 7219 Class – 1A Starboard or Port Side - Port Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Not connecting. There is a set of automatic glass doors that separates the hallway from the 'Team Earth' room that is open to the atrium. IF these doors are open, you will hear the bands, etc., from the atrium in the evening. This was a problem on the first couple of nights only, after which the doors were normally closed. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – You can see onto the balconies of the cabins between you and the outermost cabin of the other side of the 'hump'. Directly below and to the right are lifeboats, but there is nothing impeding the view straight out or straight down. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - oversized for class - as it is the last cabin aft before sunset balcony staterooms Was wind a problem? For the most part, no. Adammara Posted October 26, 2010 #1060 Share Posted October 26, 2010 SHIP: Celebrity Eclipse CABIN #: 1604 DECK (#): 11 CLASS: Aqua AREA: Hump/Angle BED NEAR: Veranda QUIET?: Yes. Except for some noise from deck above at times. Very close to the elevators, yet mainly very quiet. BALCONY VIEW: A little restricted to stern BALCONY SIZE: Larger, first on the hump, quite shaded. WIND A PROBLEM?: Not on our cruise. SOOT A PROBLEM?: No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: A little noisy when deck furniture being moved, but not a problem for us. We loved the cabin, and have booked it again. October 2010 The above is my May report, still love the cabin, but on the last 2 mornings the furniture moving at 7am was really noisy, would not recomend for a light sleeper, or if you want a lay in. There is also a duct of some sort above the balcony, which there was some noise from. Richard
suz57 Posted October 28, 2010 #1061 Share Posted October 28, 2010 Just returned from sailing the week of 10/17/10 - Amaaaaazing ! Deck - 11 Cabin # - 1659 Class – Concierge C3 Starboard or Port Side - Port Bed near?(balcony or bath) – balcony :) Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – relatively quiet - the only outside noise heard was doors of other staterooms slamming. (which is inconsiderate passengers, not a ship problem !) Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – There was some sort of ladder thing hanging from above toward the rear, but no big deal really. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Just right  Loved reclining chairs and foot stools Was wind a problem? nope If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a Any specific problems with this cabin? Funny, there was a rattling sound from the balcony the first night that we corrected ourselves the next day and didn't bother to report. One of the glass partitions/dividers was the culprit - the rubber cover to it's side anchor/bracket was missing so wind+metal bracket+glass made the noise. We stacked a few Captain's Club coupons together and placed between the glass and bracket and voila' - quiet ! Would be interesting to know if any other passengers discover our fix ! Thanks, Captain's Club ! ;) Any other comments? Our stateroom attendants were OUTstanding. We're fairly new cruisers meaning low maintenance. We made only a couple requests and NO problem, they were happy to help. As I stated on the ship's questionnaire, I always knew their smiling faces were never far away. Would love to sail the Solstice again soon.

Normal or oversized for class? - Normal Was wind a problem? no problem - even though it was windy on the pool deck, the balcony was great - although it would depend on the wind direction at any given time, I suppose. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a Any specific problems with this cabin? No problems Any other comments? This was a typical balcony cabin (although concierge class with upgraded amenities-large bath towels (almost bath sheets) great pillow choices, nice robes) It was a little more than halfway back between aft elevators and stern, but still the short walk was no issue as getting around on this beautiful ship is a breeze. Just 2 decks up to pool deck 12 and 3 decks up to Oceanview Cafe Deck 14 (no deck 13). Gangway on our Eastern itinerary was aft elevators, deck 2. Embarkation/Debarkation on deck 5. mhfp Posted November 1, 2010 #1065 Share Posted November 1, 2010 SHIP NAME: Solstice CABIN NO.: 1549 DECK NO: 11 CLASS: AQ AREA: Port BED NEAR? (Balcony or Bath): Balcony QUIET? Yes. Very Quiet. No noise overhead. Quiet in hall. Little traffic in hall. BALCONY VIEW: The window washing basket was parked directly in front of this cabin all week. Never moved once. When in cabin, in bed, or on balcony, it was directly in view. When on balcony did not obstruct view of water. BALCONY SIZE: Oversized. WIND A PROBLEM?: No, balcony is on rear aspect of angle and protected from wind. SOOT A PROBLEM?: No COMMENTS: We were upgraded to this class. Were happy to be in AQ. If not upgraded would have been more upset by obstructed view. Mainly a problem when taking pictures. The oversized balcony was nice. There is an overhang from the Pool Deck which was nice as it blocked rain and kept sun out of the room, but did not make the room dark.
Xcruiser Posted November 3, 2010 #1066 Share Posted November 3, 2010 Ship: Solstice Deck - Sky Deck 10 Cabin # - 1110 Class – Celebrity Suite (CS) Starboard or Port Side - Starboard Bed near?(balcony or bath) – In bedroom near bath Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Very quiet, minor trim creak in living room but far less noise then other cabins we've been and nothing that would be a problem. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Wonderful unobstructed view forward, great view of bridge wing and could see forward to the bow. If you lean over balcony rail you can also see aft. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Suite is the first on forward hump angle furthest outside of hump. Balcony is huge maybe 15' deep x 20' and 10' deep on angle side. Had table with 4 chairs (2 more then STD) and 2 loungers with small table (1 extra lounger then STD) on balcony when we arrived. Was wind a problem? Some minor buffeting when encountering strong headwinds but somewhat normal under those conditions. Had the opening balcony partition to the CS suite next to us break the locking latch during strong winds but it was repaired within an hour. Under normal wind conditions no problems at all. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? 52" flat panel TV in living room DOA on first day due to Apple controller located under left side of cabinet. This was replaced the first evening of cruise. It was easy to knock the handset off the phone located near the toilet in bathroom when using it. Balcony handrail, table and chairs were in need of sanding and refinishing of wood surfaces. Any other comments? Great suite and more then enough room and storage for two people. We loved the location on the hump near mid-ship elevators and just outside library. The view from the large balcony was incredible on the forward angle of hump. We don't normally book suites but got a good deal on this one and it may have spoiled us. Suite and balcony pictures link
