More questions about Island Mini Suites

We are booked on the Island to Hawaii on 2/18/05. We have mini suite on the Baja deck, B228. Does anyone know if it's covered? Also, we chose personal dining for the first time. Any hints? We are used to traditional but wanted to try something new.:)

We were just in B230 on the Island to Hawaii. Yes, the deck is covered. We did personal choice dining and really liked it. We met different people every night. There was only one night that we had to wait for a table, but you can also make a reservation if you'd prefer.

YES . . . we loved it. We would probably go for the same location again. We weren't into room service in the morning, so it was really quick to just pop up to Horizon Court to grab a first cup of coffee. The only inconvenience was if we did laundry which is in the back of the ship. Although, for the few times we did it the long walk wasn't bad. The cabin was perfect. We went for the mini suite because of the length of the cruise and were glad we did. We liked having the sofa to sit on and read or watch TV for a break. Also, the balcony was a great size.

Was the ship rocking and rolling on your way to and from Hawaii ? Could you feel any movement on the front or the back of the ship? was being that high on the ship have more movement?

Seas? smooth or choppy ?

We just got back on the Island from Hawaii on Oct. 6th. The seas were very smooth. In fact on the way back at times you would think you were on a lake the water was so calm. Of course this will change with the time of the year and rather or not there are any storms moveing in.

On the way to Hawaii it wasn't too bumpy. The closer we got to Hawaii the calmer it was. On the way back, it was a bit different. There were 2 days or so when it was too windy to sit outside and the seas were moderate. There was one night in particular when the winds were as high as 50 knots.

I didn't think being closer to the front or higher made much difference as to what we felt. It seemed to me that we felt way less movement where we were than we did when we were in the back of the ship (the universe lounge). Actually, we met several couples who were in the cabins right up front and they commented on how they were surprised that they weren't feeling the ship go up and down.
