aussie keith Posted January 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2009 Hi, we'll be arriving soon from "downunder" and looking forward to the cruise leaving from Galveston on the 1st February. We are staying in Houston the night before and driving down to the docks. Would appreciate any tips on the best place to park and what time should we arrive there to cut down the waiting time. We're told that it should occur between 12.30-2.30. Thanks in advance

I would stay in Galveston the night before and many of the hotels have free parking for the week. Plus you wont have to fight the morning cruis traffic. EastTexans2 Posted January 23, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2009 We always park at EZ Cruise Parking and have never had a problem. They will take you to the ship and pick you up. If you register with them on line you will get a discount........http://www.ezcruiseparking.com
aussie keith Posted January 23, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted January 23, 2009 Thanks for the advice, but we already have the hotel arranged in Houston, so no choice there. Why is there no debarking passengers? Has the recession hit that bad?
aussie keith Posted January 23, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted January 23, 2009 Thanks for the tip. I'll look them up on-line.
yst347 Posted January 23, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 23, 2009 The Conquest is in dry dock this week and next. Her first sailing will be February 1st. If you don't mind my asking; I assume you plan to hire a car, why do you want to pay to park it in Galveston for a week?

Understand your thought, but our daughter lives in the USA so we'll be travelling in her car, but you can be sure that I'll be paying for the gas and carpark! yst347 Posted January 23, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 23, 2009 That makes more sense. :) The link posted above to EZ-Cruise parking should be helpful. It is where we park in Galveston. The lot is just two blocks from the terminal. They will shuttle you and your luggage back and forth. If you reserve your space by booking online you will receive a small discount. We like to arrive in Galveston between 10:30 and 11:00. Since Conquest will be empty I would try to arrive early for the reasons others have stated. I would try to arrive at the parking lot at 10:30. Have a great trip! Will you be spending any time in Hawaii?
sixgun8 Posted January 23, 2009 #9 Share Posted January 23, 2009 yeah I couldn't think of the name of the cruise parking before, EZcruise is it. Since the Conquest is coming back from Dry dock, it will be primed, ready and empty for you to stroll right on and enjoy!!!

We'll arrange to get there early. No, Hawaii is not on the agenda this time. We have been there a couple of times. We had our daughters wedding there because it was a halfway point for all, so to speak.
