Running in Cozumel

My husband and I are signed up for a half-marathon in April and would like to do a fairly decent run while we're in Cozumel (to justify going the all-inclusive later :rolleyes:). Is it safe to run on the side of the main road...are there sidewalks? We'll be on Carnival in February so most likely docking at Puerta Maya - would the road be less busy if we ran North vs. South?

The sidewalks are better if you head towards San Miguel than if you head to the south. At least that is how they were in 2006.
