220e Posted January 27, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2009 We are taking the plunge and going on our first cruise. We are flying from Manchester to Montigo Bay on 11 April 2009, our chosen cruise is on the Sea Princess 14 day Grand Carribean Islander. We have opted for an inside cabin. We have not opted for the anytime dining. Our courage to try a cruise has come mainly from the reviews on the site. Anyone got any advice or tips for a 50 year old couple who are still living as and have the outlook of a couple half our age!!! We would appreciate any advice at all, in partiicular dining, excursions and etiquete.

Just back from the December holiday cruise on the Sea Princess, and it was our best cruise of over 25 cruises. The itinerary is fabulous. On most of the islands, we just walked to town and wandered around. Did a snorkel excursion on Bonaire that was a big disappointment. (The operator didn't take us to a good dive sight). On St. Lucia, we went to a resort and paid for an "all inclusive" day, but felt that wasn't worth it. It was a gorgeous island though. Would try to go to the other side from the port next time, as that is where the mountains are. Don't fret over the dining and "ettiquette" (sp!) issues. It is really no big deal. Not necessary to go overboard for formal nights unless you choose to. DH always wears a navy blue sport coat and tie for that. Have fun exploring and planning!:) Julie
caber Posted January 27, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2009 Firstly, Sea Princess has the greatest proportion of British passengers of all Princess ships. We have just come off her and our second week there were 1760 Brits and 200 others. You will love the ship. Go to the Roll Call for your cruise and start chatting. You will get tips on trips and ports. The passengers mostly all adhered to the dress code on formal nights, with dinner suits being the normal but a suit would be equally acceptable. Most of all, enjoy your cruise.:)
