jaybyrd3007 Posted November 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2004 Hello, Does anyone know how much captains are making these days on the large cruise lines? Also what kind of room do they get? thanks
RWolver672 Posted November 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2004 http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos247.htm#earnings Down toward the bottom it says that they make around $100,000 a year but can make more with experience. I would assume that their living quarters are quite nice as sometimes they do entertaining in their cabins.
Cotton Posted November 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 17, 2004 Can't answer about salary, but I've been to the Captain's quarters on two different cruises - once for after-dinner drinks, and once for dinner. (This was years ago on the Festivale and the Mardi Gras.) The Captain had a nice setup: Sitting room (sofa, chairs, desk, bookcases, TV - dining table w/6 chairs in an alcove, refrigerator hidden away behind folding doors, etc. - Large bedroom, bathroom about twice the size as in cabins - VERY nice and roomy, but I imagine they would be even nicer on the newer vessels. DeckCadet Posted November 17, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2004 heh....saw you quoted me here, so I thought i'd attach a picture or two. This was when I was on board in August about a month before my last cruise. In one picture is part of the room, another (kinda out of focus) has him with some family members who were visiting at the same time. 037A is his sitting room, with windows onto the boat deck. 034A is him at his desk.
