-ClevelandRocks- Posted January 27, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2009 Glory has been our favorite ship to date. Did both the east and west itineraries on Glory. Port Canaveral has the best fascilities for embarkation/debarkation. You'll have a ball whichever itinerary you've chosen. Gf liked west best for activities, I liked east for scenery. lhaddon Posted January 27, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2009 I love the Glory. We are taking our second cruise on Glory in March. We are doing the eastern cruise to Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maartin. Lora

Bermuda C Posted January 27, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2009 Just returned off of the Glory last Saturday (1/24). We did the Eastern route. This was my first time back on Carnival in a few years. There were four of us (myself, my wife and my two boys ages 7 and 4). We loved the ship and the boys loved Camp Carnival. The Eastern itenerary was great and all the crew we encountered were wonderful. My only complaint, if you want to call it that is the chair hogs. I won't get into it on this thread, but if you want a chair by one of the pools you better be on deck VERY early. Like 6am when they are putting them out. No problem for me, I was up every morning at 5am. I would also say do not hit the lunch buffet at the prime time (11:30-1:00). Lines were long and they always ran out of cups at the beverage station. I would say go after 1:00. I would also recommend the fish and chips. Never much of a wait, if any, there. Also if you are looking for a nice place to have a drink before dinner. I would recommend the bar in the main lobby. Great service and there is live music. Generally jazz or soft rock. The casino bar was nice for a lively crowd. Live music there everynight too that ranged from Buffett to Chesney. I would also recommend going to the "secret" doors on decks 6 and 7 at the front of the ship. These were open all week for us. I would go out there and watch the sun rise and be totally alone. It could get a bit windy out there. When we sailed into St. Thomas it was just my wife and myself out there. Very nice... The kids loved the putt-putt up on deck 12. Just a bit windy, unless you're in port. Embarkation was very easy. It took us a total of 30 mins from the time we went through the first x-ray scanner until we were walking on the ship. We got there early too and were onboard by 12:00. If I think of other things I will post.

seedaz Posted January 27, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 27, 2009 How were the shows on board? Who is the CD? We are sailing on February 14th and are happy to hear you had a great cruise? Do they sell a soda card on board, do you know? Thanks for any info. How was the food in the dining room?
Bermuda C Posted January 27, 2009 #9 Share Posted January 27, 2009 This was our second January cruise. The weather around Nassau and the Bahamas can be hit or miss. January of 2008 it was cloudy, windy with highs in the 60's. This year though Nassau was Sunny with highs around 76. Now once you hit the Southern Carribbean around St. Thomas and St. Maarten. It was very nice. Sunny with highs in the mid 80's. I believe the average temp in both of those places is around 85. It was funny because on our last full day at sea last Friday you could tell we were heading north. The temp dropped throughout the day. When we woke up Friday morning it was around 72. By the time we went to bed around 10:00 it was around 60. There could've been a front coming in as well, but that's how it goes. I believe you will have nice weather in February. We did get some sunburn so the sun is always strong no matter what time of year.
sailing lady Posted January 28, 2009 #10 Share Posted January 28, 2009 What time did the first guests debark from the Glory?
jessed Posted January 28, 2009 #11 Share Posted January 28, 2009 We disembarked at 7:30 on 1-17.
Bermuda C Posted January 28, 2009 #12 Share Posted January 28, 2009 The shows were great, according to my wife. I only went to the comedy show. They do sell the soda card. As you have probably read on other threads do not buy until you leave port. This will save you the tax. Also it is prorated so will be cheaper if you buy later in the cruise. You are allowed to take soda onboard. The amount varies and Carnival is vague about it. My Carnival person said I would be safe with a six pack of soda. The CD was great, his name alludes me at the moment. He was very young though.... There were guests that were able disembark at 7:30. We are never in a huge hurry to get off. We were off and in our chartered van by 9:00am. No problems getting off and customs was a breeze.
