kaiwest Posted January 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2009 We are on NCL Pearl late March and arrive in Roatan at 8:00 and depart at 5:00. We are hoping to book Victor Bodden tours to take us to Pirates of the Caribbean Extreme zipline, and then still have time to get lots of snorkeling at West Bay or Half Moon Bay, and maybe throw in lunch somewhere along the way. Does anybody know if we will have time for all of this?
Dawn125408 Posted January 31, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2009 We went to Roatan a year ago on a Carnival cruise. It was our favorite stop. We used Victor and it was wonderful. They gave us a tour of the whole island, we stopped at Victors house and the two granddaughters loved petting the monkeys - very cute. The girls wanted to go zip-lining with their father, so DD and DH asked to be taken to a beach where we could snorkel. Unfortunately, the water was too rough that day, so we just had drinks on the beach and waited for the others to get done zip-lining. Our tour guide went back to pick up the adventurous ones and then picked us up. We then visited the museum that makes jewelry out of coral (darn - memory lapse of name). We were not rushed, and had plenty of time to stop at different areas for photos. You'll love it there! He even stopped at a couple of places where we could shop. BaBaG Posted February 10, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 10, 2009 Everyone is raving about their experiences on a Victor Bodden excursion and that has really peaked our interest. We'll be in/on Roatan Sunday, February 22, sailing on the Carnival Miracle. Is it necessary to book with Victor prior to our sailing? Or...can we book once we're on the island? DH likes to check the weather the day of the excursion(!), etc., prior to purchasing and I'm a planner and would prefer to have everything booked b/4 we leave home! Can someone help us with our dilemma?!! Thanks!
ikirumata Posted February 10, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2009 I think due to port regulations, you HAVE to book in advance (at least thats what Victor's site says). Either way, you don't have to pay any deposit and you are not held to do the activites that you signed up for...so booking in advance is really no risk. Go enjoy Victor! -jeff

So, if the weather is not to your liking, just stop by his booth and let him know you're a "no-go" for the day! This way, the private guide that was scheduled for you will be able to pick up another fare. One of our Bodden trips, it was raining at the port...but beautiful and sunny at West Bay Beach. We were so glad we didn't cancel (since the beach was almost empty of fellow cruisers!)
BaBaG Posted February 10, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2009 Thanks so much for the info about reserving Bodden excursions. Sounds great and we'll look at doing that right away. Have a great day!
