bike1964 Posted January 29, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2009 Has anyone had the chance to sleep on one of these? We are thinking about booking a 1A on the Valor, and it has a twin bed with a single sofa bed. How comfortable/uncomfortable are they for someone in their mid 40's? Thanks for any info. CruiseSpecialist03 Posted January 29, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2009 To my expierence if you had to chose between the roll-a-way or the sofa bed, I would take the sofa bed. Is it a huge price difference between this and the regular rooms?

According to Cruise Stateroom it says a 1A has an upper and lower and no sofa bed? 1A Small Interior Upper and lower bed, television, private bath with shower, safe, mini bar, phone, television, sitting area, hair dryer. cruising gramma Posted January 29, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2009 1A with Porthole has a single bed and sofa/bed. Yes the sofa bed is comfortable. I slept very comfortably on one and I was 52.
bike1964 Posted January 29, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted January 29, 2009 Some of the newer ships have some 1A's with a twin bed and a sofa bed as opposed to an upper/lower. I am looking @ the Valor on the main deck.
CruiseSpecialist03 Posted January 29, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 29, 2009 That is correct. On the newer ships that have been coming out it does have certain rooms that instead of the Upper and Lower berths it gives you a twin bed and a convertible sofa bed for the other. Do they have one of those cheap foam mattresses on them?
David148 Posted January 29, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2009 we have a sofa bed in our room for sept on Destiny. Called carnival and she said it's basically a bed up against the wall; made for sitting during the day. My question now is also, is it a mattress and can you request a duvet and have them keep it a bed all week? So far i've honestly only read good things about the sofa beds on carnival. :) -David
bike1964 Posted January 29, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted January 29, 2009 So, is it just a sofa that you sleep on top of, or is it a sofa that unfolds into a twin bed with sheets/covers/pillow? I would love to see a photo if anyone has one. Thanks.
XCruiseMe17 Posted January 29, 2009 #10 Share Posted January 29, 2009 I have slept on a pull out sofa bed on the Valor. I personally thought it was great. Good size. Nice and comfy. Felt just like the king bed that was also in the cabin. I woulndt mind having to sleep on one again. I have pics as well if u need some.
Tweety1961 Posted January 29, 2009 #11 Share Posted January 29, 2009 My daughters have slept on them. They were OK with it. The sofa isn't the pull-out type, at least not the ones we have used. They are just the couch in the room that they remove the back cushion off and put a sheet on. Make sure you ask for extra blankets! I don't think they were very long either. A tall person may be a little more uncomfortable.
grneyedmustang Posted January 29, 2009 #12 Share Posted January 29, 2009 I'm six feet tall and slept on one on the Victory. I had no issues at all and it was quite comfy. I couldn't tell the difference between it and the regular bed.
bike1964 Posted January 29, 2009 Author #13 Share Posted January 29, 2009 Thanks for all the replies. The main thing I wanted to find out was if it actually opened up into a bed like the sleeper sofa's do, or do you simply lie on the sofa and call it a bed? From the replies, it appears that it does not open into a bed. Thanks.
