2Feathers Posted February 2, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2009 ez... Its been a couple of years since we took the Wind Spirit St. Thomas cruise, but we loved it so much we did it two years in a row. We booked the ship's excursion to the Baths the first year, and decided to try to arrange to get there on our own the second year so we'd have more time. Alas, we found this is a pretty tough task... The problem is, they tender you to the Bitter End Yacht Club, which is at the very other end of Virgin Gorda from the Baths, and had no taxi service. Its also on the opposite end of the very large bay from an area called Gun Creek, which is where you'd have to go to either get a taxi or rent a car. And there weren't any taxis or rental cars in Gun Creek, so you'd have to pre-arrange for one to meet you there. It may be different now, but all this was just too much for us to try to set up a couple of years ago, so we just decided to do the ship's excursion. I think someone else on this forum had successfully arranged all of this on a recent cruise and reported it here, so you may want to search through recent trip reports. Windstar offered some really nice sounding excursions, but the Baths was the only excursion we booked on either of our Wind Spirit cruises. This is a very easy cruise itinerary to "do your own thing" on, as there is so much to do within walking distance of most ports, or readily available taxis or rental cars at the others. Virgin Gorda is really the only exception, because the main island attractions and better beaches are on the other side of the island. However, you can take the ship's zodiac directly the beach at Prickly Pear Island. Its coming up pretty soon, huh? Its a great cruise, and you're going to have a fabulous time!! Let us know what you did when you return...
