Happy HALer Posted February 22, 2009 #26 Share Posted February 22, 2009 The ship's decor is all part of a masterful plan to make the food in the dining rooms look more appealing by contrast.:D
watchdiva Posted February 22, 2009 #27 Share Posted February 22, 2009 I'm conservative by nature and our home is decorated mainly in neutral colors. We LOVE the bright colors on NCL - after the initial surprise wears off - and you'd be surprised how quickly you get used to the bright colors. Seeing the bright colors in our cabin on embarkation day always brings a sigh of relief - "we're officially on vacation"!

In addition to the carpets, I've also been known to photograph the food. Seeing the bright colors in our cabin on embarkation day always brings a sigh of relief - "we're officially on vacation"!With me, it's "Ahhh, we're home!" BonnieLark Posted February 24, 2009 #29 Share Posted February 24, 2009  Let me preface by saying that the wife and I are planning a 30th anniversary cruise to the eastern med. in Nov. 2010.......probably 12 days. I will admit I am leaning towards Celebrity at this point....but trying to keep an open mind, I will consider NCL. Have not cruised on NCL before. Therefore my question: While perusing the NCL website, you cannot help but notice the decor/color schemes....lots of purple, with orange and lime green.....sometimes described as 70's acid flashback. For those who have actually cruised on these ships....is it really that bad "live and in person" or does it just seem more pronounced on the website? . I will be honest....I cannot look at the pictures on the website for more than 2 minutes without shuddering ( and yes, I agree, others may love it and each to his own tastes)......but is it bad live, or am I not getting a true picture from the limited visuals of the internet. Overall I am a very easygoing/go-with-the flow person and can make the best of most situations.....am I worried about nothing? Thanks to all who reply:D We just got back from our Pearl cruise celebrating our 37th anniversary. Maybe it's just me but I thought the vivid decor was beautiful. It was festive, cheerful. I've attached some photos.

LindaKE Posted February 25, 2009 #31 Share Posted February 25, 2009 The decor is the only reson I've been able to pick as to why we like Princess better than NCL. You didn't mention Princess as an option, but it may be closer in decor to X. NCL decor was too garish for our tastes. However, it is not so bad that it would keep me from sailing NCL when the price and/or itinerary are better - as in our upcoming cruise.
