Norman Island Snorkeling

I had done a Norman Island snorkeling trip a number of years ago and it was fabulous...some of the best snorkeling in the Caribbean. I would definitely do this instead of a land based tour in Tortola. Frankly I don't think Tortola is an especially interesting port stop for non water based activites.

Has anyone done any excursions to this area? Is the water very rough, is the snorkeling worth doing or just make this short port stop land based? Thanks in advance.

We were there just a couple of weeks ago and did the NCL sponsored catamaran sail and snorkel. We ended up on Ppaulo and the capt and 1st mate were great. They sailed over to Norman's Island near the caves and the snorkeling was wonderful. We also stopped over at Peter's Island where you could do a little beachcombing, snorkeling as well. It was worth the money and I would do it again in a heart beat. I love Tortola, it is not so built up and pushy as some of the other islands and you can certainly enjoy water based activities with ease. One thing, we packed our own snorkel equipment on this cruise and will definitely do that again in the future. I am much more comfortable with my own equipment and know my mask is fitted to me, as well as fins.
