Jeepers385 Posted February 7, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2009 If you were to go to Harrison's Cave and then wanted to go to the beach afterwards which beach would you choose? How convenient would it be to get to the beach you choose and would you take a taxi and approx. cost? Thanks for the info.

rxnrn Posted March 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2010 Bump. We will be back in Barbados in June and will return to Accra beach. We would like to go to the cave when we get off the ship and then to Accra. How long would it take to get to the cave and tour it. And would a cab driver stick around at the cave to take us to the beach. Anyone that has done this, your information would be much appreciated. cruisingbajan Posted March 29, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 29, 2010 The cave is smack dab in the middle of the island. Its in one of the 2 parishes in Barbados that does not have a coast line. Accra is doable but it maybe a bit of a stretch depending on how long you have in port. My suggestion would be if you want to do the beach and the caves do a beach closer to the port. That would be either Brandons/Malibu Beach or maybe the Boatyard depending on what you are looking for. rxnrn Posted March 30, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 30, 2010 Thanks for info BK. We will be there from 8am to 5pm. We were hoping to go straight to the cave, then have the rest of the day on Accra.
rome2009 Posted March 30, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 30, 2010 We were in Barbados in March. We went with a tour company. Ended up just the two of us as the other couple didn't show up. We went to Harrison's Cave. Loved it. Then went to a beach (right next to Accra) and spent 2 hours there. I believe the cost was 70 US for everything. Included in the price: Entrance to Harrison's Cave, tour of the island, beach chairs and use of the hotel facilities. If you did the tour without the Cave, I believe it would be about 30 or 35 US. 138east Posted March 31, 2010 #8 Share Posted March 31, 2010 The trick to doing Harrison's Cave on your own is to get off the ship first thing. Hire a taxi to take you to the cave and wait for you and then take you on to the beach of your choice. The reason to go early is that you want to beat the organized excursions to the cave. The tickets are limited and organized tours may have reserved the late morning times. It's in the middle of nowhere and you will not be able to just grab a cab there. We went to the beach at Folkestone Underwater Park. We really liked it, but it's not a beach for everyone. It's a very low key public park with restrooms, changing area, snack shop, snack bar, vendor, etc. There was lots of shade and filtered light under large eucalyptus trees - ground right up to the actual beach. You could rent chairs. The actual beach was narrow, but the water was fine. You can also snorkel offshore here and there is equipment rental. It also had a children's playground and I think tennis courts. Best of all, it was not crowded. The vendor called to have a cab come pick us up when we were ready to leave.
