vasco Posted February 7, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2009 We have never been up the Amazon and would like to hear from anyone who has done this trip. Question: Do mozzys bite all day or only in the evening? Is it recommended to wear long trousers on trips out in case of bites? Can we sleep with the windows open or is this too risky, We have a balcony suite? What is the entertainment like? I am a diabetic and also very allergic to alcohol (Yes I know it's dead boring and no fun)Do they have a wide range of non alcoholic drinks that are sugar-free. Tonic water can be so dull when there is no alternative any info would be appreciated a.s.a.p. as we leave Monday afternoon
Parsman Posted February 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2009 I took this cruise on the "Black Prince" some years ago. From Manaus I went on an overnight trip into the jungle and slept in a treetop lodge with no a/c with no after-effects, no bites. The intense heat combined with the extremely high humidity were the biggest problems. You may well be happy to be in your cool cabin after a day out seeing the fascinating sights. The risk of yellow fever is, I believe, greater than that of malaria. make sure you have had your innoculation. The entertainment will follow the normal Fred. Olsen pattern but others may have more information on this.
