big_duck Posted February 10, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2009 Yes, Carnival does have booking restrictions based on the number of persons a cabin can hold. This is usually done for popular bookings in order to ensure that a ship is at max capacity. That being said, I have never heard of it being done with suites or on a Fantasy class vessel which has roll-aways. Try again, I say.
SunnyinMA Posted February 10, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 10, 2009 Just a guess as I'm not a TA, but certain rooms hold certain numbers of people. Like you have cabins for 2 (no pull-downs) cabins for 3 (one pull-down or one sofa) and cabins for 4 (2 pull-downs), etc. This all counts toward the total number of berths they are allowed to have when they sail per the rules of the Coast Guard. So if you look at the deck plans for the Fantasy you should be able to tell by the dots or stars or whatever how many ppl the room is for. I have heard others say they are pretty strict about putting the correct number of pax in the cabins that hold that many. Like I booked a suite gty on the Fantasy. I had 4 people so I knew I would get a Penthouse (cat 12) because the Cat 11's hold 3. I could be completley wrong but thats my guess.
mariemorgan Posted February 10, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2009 That seems funny to me.. that would be like saying.. anyone who is only 2 people can't be allowed to book a suite.
Frick_&_Frack Posted February 10, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 10, 2009 It certainly sounds strange to me. We book Cat 12s (only 2 of us) and my parents Cat 11s (also, only 2 of them) and have never been told we could not do so. I would call again and get a different rep on the line with you and your TA.
