Wine question

We usually cruise on Royal Caribbean but will be sailing on Carnival for the first time in June. On RCI you could purchase a wine package that consisted of 5 or more bottles and you could have the wine in the dining room or sent to your room. Does Carnival have any wine packages? If so, can you order it before you sail? Is there any link to the information?

I think it depends on the ship but I'm guessing most 7 day cruises do. Here's info from a recent Capers. It's only available once your on the ship, no idea as to selection. Second day they do a "food and wine pairing tasting" for $15 I think they try to sell it then too.

Here's the info on it from the Legend.

Wine packages now available!

Deluxe & Premium Packages are available at a savings of

nearly 25% off the regular wine list prices. For details visit

the Formalities Shop - Dk. 3 Mid., The Atlantis Bar - Dk. 2

Aft., The Odyssey Bar - Dk. 2 Aft., or our wine specialists

located at the Cruise the Vineyards tables:

Lido Deck Aft - Pizzeria or by the glass stairs to the Golden

Fleece Steakhouse - Lido Deck, Dk. 9 Midship.

Go on their website and under the gifts section you can order wine for your room, also they allow you to bring wine on-board when you embark. I think they allow 1-2 bottles (any size) per person. I have put bottles in my backpack and they only checked it to make sure it was sealed, I just carried it to my room, no problem at all.:D

I was on a Fantasy class ship in January and they were doing the wine packages, so I imagine it must be fleet wide. Also, any left over wine in the dining room is yours to do with as you please, leave for the next night or take back to your cabin. Since you bought it on board, you can consume it in any of the public lounges.

And luvlabs is right, you can bring 1 bottle per person on board with you, but I think it is limited to a 750 ml bottle.

you can bring a few bottles on board with you

I did and had one at the supper club on the Miracle--corkage fee but well worth knowing I had a great bottle for a great dinner

you can also call the bon voyage gifts and have bottles sent to your room

I had a bottle of vodka sent and brought on seltzer water and my room steward brought me lemons everyday

Have a great cruise

Wow! I sailed RCCL years ago and loved this package, and always asked why it was not available on CCL. All I can say is it's about time! I will still be bringing my own wine, but since it is only one bottle p/p it was only good for one meal.

Does anyone know the details of the package?

I think you can find the info on there site.

They mark up everything 3X the price that you can get it your self.

So even with the corkage fee it is less expensive to buy yourself and carry it on board.

4 bottles got us thru dinner last cruise. ;)

For those who carry a few bottles aboard, do you usually bring them all to the dining room the first night and let your waiter store them? Bring them one at a time? What if you want your wine chilled? Your experiences and suggestions would be appreciated.

You can do both...you can bring them to be stored...or if you choose, you can bring them one at a time.

They will gladly hold them and chill them for you.

:D

Technically you can only carry 1 750 ml bottler per adult on board, but packing some in your luggage happens too.

  • 3 weeks later...

We don't typically care for most of the wines CCL offers, and of course those that we do are perhaps double or triple what we pay locally (or internet).

On our Freedom cruise last month we brought aboard SIX bottles for the two of us. We had 4 carry on bags, 3 of which had TWO bottles each. I went first, placing a bag with two through the scanner. Then next bag (also including our laptop) - so the laptop goes first in a tub, then the other bag w/2 bottles. Cheryl (following me) then placed her bag w/2 bottles. Not a word was said. Generally if you have no more than 2 in any one bag, it's not a big deal. Having said that - they do reserve the right to let you pass with only two... and don't try and take 5 or 6 bags with 2 each!!!

In all of our past cruises we average 4-6 bottles, and have NEVER (knock on wood) had a problem. Perhaps they are too busy checking out our laptop, ,make-up bag and satellite radio we lug aboard!
