Cruising on May

You don't state where you are coming from and I think that makes a big difference.

We are going in May and being from cold country we will layer layer layer. One thing to remember it will always feel colder when you are on the water.

According to weather.yahoo, the average high in Juneau in May is 56F and the average low is 40F. If, as your board name suggests, you are from Virginia, you may find this on the chilly side, and, as beauty mentioned, it will feel colder out on the water, especially when the ship is moving.

As to taking young children on the cruise, I'd suggest checking out the family boards, where they can give you all kinds of advice about cruising with kids.

Do be aware that on most cruiselines there is no children's program for those under 3, and there is no private babysitting on any Princess ship:

Also, you will need to take all the diapers, wipes, baby food, etc with you as they are not available onboard.

You may also want to pop over to the Princess board

and to this Roll Call thread to meet people who are also sailing the Sapphire on May 16

Good luck, and have a great trip!

Think easy-to-remove layers. Also, think cold and rainy, but plan on being pleasantly surprised if you have just the opposite. We've sailed 2x May and 1x early June... experiencing a variety of weather. Our June cruise was colder and rainier than either of our May cruises. :) We have gone from from coats to short-sleeves to coats to short-sleeves on all our Alaskan cruises.

That describes the weather right now in a lot of VA/mid-Atlantic, and it feels downright balmy! But thats because its the middle of winter. One we get acclimated to 80s and 90s in May, then yes, 50s will be chilly.
