Booking thru C.A.S ..?

Hi all, sorry if this has been asked before, I searched but couldnt find the answer im looking for. If you book through cas, do you get any other promos along with the booking?... ex.if you qualify for a military discount would that also be applied, or is the discount CAS gives you it? Does CAS handle any bookings for only 2 day cruises? DH and myself really want to try NCL again and right now his vacation time is limited so we are looking at a weekend getaway on the Dawn out of Ny. In general what is CAS'S discount like, I pressume it depends on past play, any Info appreciated.:)

Thanks, Suni

If you call CAS they can look at what play you did on your previous cruise and they will tell you what they can offer you. I do believe they will work with you on the shorter cruises as well. As far as other discounts or promos, in the past we have always gotten the current promo being offiered... ie. OBC, however when some folks booked in Jan of this year, they came on here and reported they were told all they could get was the discount for the cruise that CAS was offering them or the comp'ed room, but no OBC. Whatever CAS offers you is always based on your play from your last cruise.

CAS is authorized to assign any booking code they want in order to give you the best discount. For example, on my latest CAS confirmation, it says in bold print that we must provide proof of military service to utilize the discount. I asked CAS about this as we have no military connection and was told that it doesn't matter, that the military discount is just one of the codes they use for discounting CAS bookings. So, the way I understand it, whatever discounts NCL is offering, no matter what the restrictions, CAS can put those codes in for their customers in order to pile up the discounts. So, the price they will give you already includes any other discount you may qualify for.

Yes,, they handle all NCL cruises, even one nighters. However, keep this in mind. Of course using CAS will not save you as much on a lesser priced cruise like 2 day, as it would on a longer cruise. Also remember that they look at your most recent playing history to determine if you are eligible to book with them or not. So, if you book a 2 day through them and decide later to sail a 7 day, whether or not you can book through them will depend on your play on your most recent cruise....the 2 day one. Unless you play LOT I would think it would be really hard to qualify to book through CAS on a 2 day cruise...although, I did qualify on a 3 day cruise. Bottom line is that you might want to consider saving your ability to book through CAS when you are going on a longer, more expensive cruise.

The discount usually runs about 30 to 35 percent for those that don't qualify for comped cabins. In addition, you will get the free drink card which can be worth a lot if you enjoy drinking.

Also, don't be so sure that short cruises don't offer any OBC. When we booked our 3 day Sky (not through CAS, but NCL) we got $50 for the 1st and 2nd person in a stateroom because they were latitudes members. Not a lot but $100 on a 3 day cruise isn't bad. So you never know.

CAS absolutely does offer OBC for those who only get a percentage off. You do not have to qualify for a comped cabin in order to receive OBC. It just depends on what promotions are going on. I'm one of the lucky ones that have gotten nice OBC's through CAS. On our upcoming June Bermuda cruise, we have two AB's reserved with a total of $1100 OBC between the two suites and we did book through CAS. On our upcoming Jan 2010 cruise, also booked through CAS we only got $100 for a mini as that's all that NCL was offering at the time of booking due to the 2nd though 8th passenger $99 sale. So it just depends on many things.

You're welcome Sunni. I do want to say one more thing, not about CAS but about your considering a 2 day cruise.

I know all about the issues you had on your recent sailing and as I've previously said, I understand why you had the negative feelings you did with some of the issues you had. And, not to defend NCL (you know I didn't defend them when I responded to your review) but what you experienced was so very different then what so many of us have experienced on NCL ships. Especially for a suite. You know yourself how many people rave on these boards about how wonderful sailing in a suite on an NCL ship is. So, I don't know why you had the issues that you did, but you did.

Having said that, frankly, I'm concerned about you taking a 2 day cruise in order to give NCL a 2nd chance. Honestly, I'm afraid you will hate it more then the one you just got back from. I haven't been on a 2 day cruise but I was going to take one back in January. My MIL had never been on a cruise and wanted to try a short one. So we decided to give her a short cruise for Christmas. My intention was to book the Dawn out of NY (I LOVE the Dawn and we are a 3 hour drive from NYC) for a 2 day cruise to nowhere. When I posted about it here on the boards, everyone, told me not to do it. They said that a 2 day cruise is in no way like a longer cruise. Said that it's basically a party weekend on the sea. Everything is crowded with everyone wanting to get everything done in a short period of time and if I wanted my MIL to experience what a "real" cruise was like, to avoid the 2 day cruises at all costs. Which is what I did as we ended up doing the 3 day Sky out of Miami. All short cruises are different because you really don't get a chance to settle in, and it's over before you know it, but at least on the Sky, there were families and it wasn't such a total party atmosphere.

Many people love the 1/2 day cruises, but they know what they are getting into before they book. Now, you may LOVE the party atmosphere as you are young, but if that's not what you are looking for, I just wanted to give you a heads up so that you don't have another bad NCL experience.

Gram, I really appreciate your feedback..as to My last experience, I really think I had some serious service issues also and still to this day havent figured out why me, lol. But I will send my letter to NCL and let them determine whether or not they feel as if we deserve any type of compensation. If they do great!! if not thats okay too. Even though we had a few issues, I still think NCL has a great product for the value. I am not excatly what you would call a party animal, but a break from the kids for a few days here and there is all we need for now. We would not be able to do a full 7 day cruise again until Feb. of next year so when I saw this 2 day quicky it appealed to me. You do have me thinking about how busy it will be, so I guess I will have to wait and see how much this is going to cost and decide if we want to give it a shot. I have some money that I never finished donating in the casino, ( you know why) that we could use for this trip, lol. Again thanks for discussing this with me, keep the info comming gram if you think of anything else............hugss...:)
