Anyone just off the Pearl, 2/15? Did you go to Key West?

Just off the Pearl 2/15, went to Great Stirrup Cay, waters were calm (that's a good thing after the first sea day...will write more later) and weather beautiful! GSC crowded but doable. Will write big review soon, still need some time to get the house back together!

That's what I'm afraid of...the sea day being rocky *faills over* lol

me and the hubby had ear patches (our first cruise, didn't want to be sick or feel sick), we were glad we had them, it was worth the dry mouth side effect. Gave kids Bonine that day and that night. Crew put barf bags out that day...they were by the elevators for easy access. Captain said it was "windy" with the wind across the deck. Seas were 7-10 feet. A lot of folks said it was the roughest they've cruised in a long time.

The week before must have been worse for us, since we were not able to go to GSC, It sounds like the wind problem was still an issue even though you were able to go, key west was just another port to shop and too cold to do anything the day we went we needed jackets and sweaters

I can't take any of it...that stuff usually knocks me out. I am very sensitive to antihistamines (Drammamine) and I'm afraid to take Bonine because as I understand it, it's in the same glass of drugs. Ear patches...could look into those I guess. :) It's like when I take Nyquil. I feel like I'm on a different planet...kind of spacey LOL

I should clarify. I don't get nauseated and sick from motion, it just drives me crazy when I get OFF of a boat..the ground moves all over the place. I do things with "sea legs" back on land. Maybe a cruise isn't the best idea in my case LOL

crack me up! I'm still suffering from sea legs at home today, ugh, it is killing me, my hubby thinks it is funny. hardy har. He and the kids don't have a sea leg issue, I'm jealous, I hope it is gone when I get up tomorrow. At 6pm it is starting to give me a headache.

And as for all those meds, I am exactly the same as you are, take them sparingly because they affect me so much. BUT we did do the ear patch (recommended from some frequent cruising friends given our itinerary of night/day/night at sea to start). I never needed Dramamine or Bonine because of the patch. Had a wicked dry mouth for the first 24 hours. But I'll take dry mouth over nausea anyday. I'm talking rough -- one woman was sick 5 feet away from me right on the pool deck -- yuk! but believe it or not it didn't make me feel sick (OK maybe a little bit). One of the jugglers in the shows said he was sick that day too. Heard alot of people talking about sickness the next day. But don't talk too much, it'll make you feel sick if you think too much.

Remember, there is no harm in having the patch with you, you can always put it on (takes ~4 hours to kick in), you can always take it off if it is calm.

Now can someone make my house stop moving??!!!

We were on the Pearl Jan. 25 to Feb. 1, 2009.

We had problem with wind gusts messing with the ship one whole day. I sure wished I had brought my ear patches with me...and will bring them on future trips just in case. Didn't get sick, but got tired of the constant motion.

In hindsight, I should have checked the store on ship to see if they carried the wrist band.

On a previous cruise, a woman had taken Bonine but felt lethargic from the medicine. She purchased a wrist band and it helped with the motion but didn't make her sleepy...but she did say she'd get the ear patches for future cruises. So, you might try one of the wrist bands if the Bonine and ear patches aren't an option for you.

You'll love the Pearl, she's a beautiful ship!

Just off the Pearl (posted review) and I am glad we went to stirup cay because then the casino was open. If we went to Key West the casino would have closed and I would not have won money at the tables!

Yes the seas were rough on day one. It was funny the TV said 7-10 ft but the graph at the bottom of the report showed seas hitting 20 feet!

Crew members said YES when asked if it was rough!
