gorb Posted February 17, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2009 Does anyone know how long after sailing out of Tampa it takes before the ship goes under the Skyway Bridge? Will the early seating for dinner have already started?
FLCruiser001 Posted February 17, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2009 Approx. 1 hr 45 min to 2 hrs, as I recall.
BrendaB1 Posted February 17, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 17, 2009 Approx. 1 hr 45 min to 2 hrs, as I recall. Correct. The CD on Inspiration announced it so everyone had a chance to see it.
agusto1999 Posted February 17, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 17, 2009 About 2 hours or perhaps a little less. I remember someone from Carnival announcing (just as we went under it heading out) that we could watch it again..on the return trip at 4 AM Sunday morning! Yea, r-i-i-i-ght. cusyl Posted February 17, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 17, 2009 It's always during early dinner. You should probably eat at the buffet the first night so you can get up on the top deck and experience it. :D

Billfrompa Posted February 17, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 17, 2009 Make sure you go up and stand in front of the funnel when you go under the bridge. Really neat!!
Florida Gator Posted February 17, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 17, 2009 We always have early seating and always miss the bridge. Each time we say we will skip dinner in dinning room first night, but...
kyrisong1 Posted February 17, 2009 #9 Share Posted February 17, 2009 I'd skip dinner the first night, it's an awesome sight.
RVman Posted February 17, 2009 #10 Share Posted February 17, 2009 About 2 hours or perhaps a little less. I remember someone from Carnival announcing (just as we went under it heading out) that we could watch it again..on the return trip at 4 AM Sunday morning! Yea, r-i-i-i-ght. I saw it both times, altho I wasn't one of them the aft Liddo deck were still partying at 4 am in the morning. I was wondering how in the blank were they going to get up if they happened to go to sleep. I just happen to wake up and thought I would go out and see it again, it’s a lot better going out than it is coming in. You couldn’t see as much coming in but going out it was just beginning to get dark and you could see the lights , that was last month tho, summer will be different. *Mach* Posted February 17, 2009 #11 Share Posted February 17, 2009 Ahhhh... how much fun!!! :D Here's a video from last April when I sailed on the Inspiration from Tampa: http://good-times.webshots.com/video/3027393860103172871MwcVYx?vhost=good-times
ABurris0411 Posted February 17, 2009 #12 Share Posted February 17, 2009 It is much better to go under it on a cruise than to go over it on the way home from work! Saw the Inspiration going under the bridge last week and it was about 5:30.
InitialD Posted February 17, 2009 #13 Share Posted February 17, 2009 Last year we were able to watch us go under the bridge and make it down to early dinner just 5 minutes late.
Name Of The Game Posted February 17, 2009 #14 Share Posted February 17, 2009 If you're sailing on the Legend, it has open seating. Just go to dinner a little later.
Ehpride Posted February 17, 2009 #15 Share Posted February 17, 2009 That's part of the reason that I like late seating. It's a great experience. Go as high up and as far forward as you can for the best view. Always 2 hours after sailaway. Last time, we left port about a half an hour late so it was at 6:30. vdarrell Posted February 18, 2009 #16 Share Posted February 18, 2009 If you're sailing on the Legend, it has open seating. Just go to dinner a little later. When we booked our cruise about 3 weeks ago we were told that the Legend doesn't have open seating.....Do they????? Because this is what we wanted. rwilk1129 Posted February 18, 2009 #17 Share Posted February 18, 2009 We had open seating on Legend in Nov 08. Loved it.
agusto1999 Posted February 18, 2009 #18 Share Posted February 18, 2009 We were on the Legend in December 08. Yes, open seating. We loved it too. Having the freedom to eat dinner when it suits you best is my idea of a vacation. If you get a chance to watch the ship go under the bridge, I say do it. It only takes a few minutes out of your evening...if you time it right.
kwilliams137 Posted February 18, 2009 #19 Share Posted February 18, 2009 Yes the early seating will be underway when you go under the bridge... WE missed it last time b/c our vacation planner put us in the wrong dinner slot and they couldn't change us to the late seating for the first night... I cannot wait to see it this time around

ShedQueen77 Posted February 18, 2009 #22 Share Posted February 18, 2009 We skipped dinner and watched, but the pictures turned out like crap because it was too dark! My camera normally takes good photos in the dark, but not this time.
