We walked all the way there from the port hoping to take a walk through but were unable to do that.sklja it is still an active military base and is where the French Marine Commando School is located. I was stantioned there for 3 months while attend the School. Depending on what is going on they will close it. It is an interesting Island. You can build a home there but the French Gov't owns the property. During our field training we were hoping fences and going through peoples yards, filling our canteens with their water spickets....and no one could say a word....very strange..
