Tipping in China

Recommended Posts

We are hiring private guides/drivers in Beijing, Shanghai, Taiwain, and Hong Kong. There will be four of us in the van.

Has anyone had experience as to how much to tip in each location per day?

We presume it is OK to tip in American dollars.

There is no set amount for tipping in China.

Give what you feel the guide deserves. Chinese Yuan for China and Taiwanese currency for Taiwan would be better than US Dollars, as the guide does not have to change over and lose value of the tip due to exchange rates / commission etc.
