Onboard credit

We've had on-board credits from time to time, and basically, they just show up on your bill as a negative, applied to your total bill. You don't have to designate what you want to "spend" them on or anything.

(Hi Sue! enjoyed meeting you on the Star! Where are you going next? We're planning a spring trip to Europe on the Grand and Golden, I think)

Does anyone know if the future cruise credit can be used along with one offered by my TA? I seem to remember reading that they couldn't both be used on the same booking.

TIA - Kim

My TA says that they can. We're going to be getting our future cruise credit, a credit for having stock in Princess, and a credit from the TA. It depends, though on what the restrictions are on the other credit. The future cruise one is "combinable" though, or so we were told by Kim on the Star.

Actually, cactusrose and DonahCBrown are correct in their answers.

I want to add that these on-board credits will almost be transparent to you in how you use them. As someone mentioned if you were to ask for a copy of your on-board account, your credit would appear as a negative balance. As the days of your cruise go by, your tips and other charges are added to your on-board account each evening and your balance will then become a positive number, the amount that you owe. I have never had anyone from the Pursers office mention that a credit could be used for this and not for that. Perhaps because we generally make enough charges to more than use up and credits. Credits can be used to cover your Tips for sure!

Hope that this helps clarify!

We have a large onboard credit coming up for the Dawn. I had thought I could charge DH's tux to that, but I just booked it online -- and using an onboard credit, or paying once onboard were not options. I'm a little disappointed in that, but I'm sure we will manage to use up the entire credit on other things. More pictures of my handsome DH in his tux!

If you have the onboard credits on your cruise personalizers already, then you have nothing to worry about. This rule changed on 10/19/04, so if you expect to get future cruise credits and the shareholder's credits, it will not happen from now on.

There was just a recent change to the onborad credit rules. Most of the changes had to do with the CCL stock credit, but there was a line saying it could not be used in the casino or for service charges. All that being said, we were able to use our credit for anything in October. You may want to ask you agent just to make sure.
