Ldyandrea Posted February 20, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2009 We're getting ready to get on the Crown on Sunday, and we've been hearing over the last couple of weeks how windy and rough the seas have been in the Eastern Carribbean. Does anyone have any word how things have been over the last couple of days? Thanks!
custompcsys Posted February 20, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2009 We're getting ready to get on the Crown on Sunday, and we've been hearing over the last couple of weeks how windy and rough the seas have been in the Eastern Carribbean. Does anyone have any word how things have been over the last couple of days? Thanks! From my experience weather in the Caribbean is a crap shoot. Most time the seas are nice and calm, but you can never tell. I was on the Crown this past December and we missed Princess Cays because of high wind and seas too rough for the tenders. That said, the ride on the ship itself wasn't all that bad, but I agree it would have been a wild tender ride in if they had tried it! From there, the seas were fine, it was a smooth ride, and we made every other port on time. Be ready to be flexible and don't let missing a port ruin your entire cruise. Its the nature of cruising - "stuff" happens. :)
CruisinChris Posted February 20, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2009 https://www.fnmoc.navy.mil/ww3_cgi/cgi-bin/ww3_all.cgi?color=b&type=prod&area=cent_am&prod=sig_wav_ht This website shows wave heights and direction for the Caribbean over an extended period of time. That should answer any questions you have. You might also google a map that shows surface wind speed and direction for the same region. That will tell you the rest of the story. darienill Posted February 20, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 20, 2009 We were on the 2-8 to 2-15 cruise and the first night out was really rough. Lots of creaks and noises, we didn't get sick so it wasn't unbearable. Once we got to St. Martin it was all better. Even at Princess Cay it smoothed out.
