Legend vs. Valor

Has anyone sailed both ships, and which one do you prefer?

We are currently scheduled on the Legend for September, but with the price of the Valor cruise we can save 120.00 for a similar room to our booking and the flights seem to work better for us. Also, looking at the deck plans, it seems that the Valor has a little more to offer.

We are confused as to what to do and would gladly accept comments from the members here, as you are usually full of good advice. :D

Thanks in advance.

I've been on both and I prefer Valor. I'm just partial to the Conquest class ships.

I was always lost on Legend. The hallways on the cabin decks are the screwiest things...if it weren't for my steward, I'd probably still be there looking for my cabin. But, people complain about how hard it is to get around on a ship like Valor....I don't have that problem.

One thing I did like about Legend is the aft pool area, all of it, is adult only.

We've been on both the Legend and the Conquest (same layout as the Valor) and as KenMo mentioned, the layout of Spirit class ships (including the Legend) is a little difficult to navigate - one veteran CC poster once said the guy that designed it must have been on LSD. However, we got used to it after a couple of days and had no problems. Also, the adults-only aft pool is very nice on the Legend. The Conquest was easier to walk from end to end and obviously was larger so there were more people but more room to hold them as well.

Having said all that, I prefer the Spirit class ships I think - a bit smaller and they have those great 2-room, aft-wrap balcony cabins which the Conquest class does not! ;)

I prefer the Legend over the Valor.

I found the layout of the Legend (Spirit class) to be much easier to navigate than the Valor (Conquest class). On the Valor I was always running into dead-ends. I also love the adults only aft pool area on the Spirit class ships.

Having said that, if the Valor is less expensive and the flights work better for you then I would go with the Valor. Both ships are great and you will be on a cruise so no wories! :)

I have been on Valor, and I have been on 2 of Legend's sister ships which are exactly the same in everything except decor. We loved our cruise on the Valor, but our favorite is Spirit class. Based on ship alone, I would choose Legend.

It always amazes me when I see people say they find Spirit class (Legend) confusing to navigate. For me, it is just the opposite. I think Spirit class is the easiest to find your way around. I got confused on the Valor.

Here is my opinion on Conquest class (Valor) and Spirit class (Legend):

Conquest class is larger, more passengers. It felt more crowded to me than Spirit class ships.

Spirit class has only 1 dining room. You can walk from front to back of the ship on any deck, all the way through. On Conquest class, there are 2 dining rooms. In order to get around one of the dining rooms, you have to go up and around on a higher deck......can't walk all the way through because the dining room blocks your way. Not a big deal, but just takes some getting used to.

I prefer the layout of the Lido pool areas on Spirit class. It is one flat deck, whereas Conquest class has a tiered deck. The Aft pool area on Spirit class is also just one flat deck, where you can walk right to the railing of the ship and look out at the water. On Conquest class, the pool area has an open roof but there are windows on the sides. To get to the open deck and railing, you have to go up one deck from the pool/bar. Not as much room up there either.

Conquest class has the big outdoor movie screen on Lido deck by the main pool. It also has a fish and chips station. Spirit class does not have either of those things. I didn't really like the movie screen that much, I thought it was loud and I'm not much of a movie buff. I don't like fish. But if either of those things are important to you, Spirit class does not have them.

I am not sure why anyone would say that the spirit class ships were hard to navigate!

The only weirdness with spirit class is that instead of a long endless hallway on the cabin decks they are zig zagged a but to break them up, but not in a way where you could get lost. There is no place that I can remember on the Legend where you couldn't go from one end to the other without maneuvering several decks, it was very easy to get around.

The Glory however was much more broken up and took a bit of getting used to. The Lido was crazy as well, I don't think that there was a way to walk around a top deck without maneuvering several decks. We had a deck 11 cabin and to get to the lido buffet required us to across an exposed deck where there was often lots of activities going on, or one day it was raining, unless we went down another deck walked across and went up a deck. I loved the Glory, but prefered the layout of the Legend.

Thanks to all for the input.

I bit the bullet today and called our TA to change ships. Not saying anything bad about the Legend, but like I stated in my OP, looking at the deck plans, I think that the Valor had a few more bars to choose from, and we loved the big screen on the Destiny in January.

The flights worked better and the savings on the booking will pay for more than our tips.

Maybe next year we'll experience the Legend (if I can talk my wife into another cruise next year):D

Thanks again for your comments, we appreciate all the feedback we receive on this board.
